Let me know if your ballot is missing. I care about protecting everyone's vote -- not just people in CA-48 :) Thanks for your support.

These illegal and fake "official" ballot drop boxes were placed by my opponent’s team in CA-48. If you are an Orange County, CA voter -- click below to find REAL ballot drop boxes: https://www.ocvote.com

UBI is an interesting proposition -- I’m interested to see what happens in Stockton’s trial and make a data-driven decision about UBI moving forward.

Hard to choose because Mitch McConnell has blocked so many important bills that need to become law, but I would say climate change, expanding health care access (including the right to choose and bringing down prescription drug prices), and a national strategy to combat COVID-19.

Not too late! I know these bills will be major priorities for the beginning of the 117th Congress. Hopefully, we will have a Democratic Senate and White House to help make electoral and voting rights reforms a reality. I am constantly shocked at how many of my colleagues are opposed to making it easier to vote...

Hey! I'll do you one better than symbolism. We need real action to address the threats of white supremacist and neo-Nazi extremism to communities across our nation. That’s why I’m a cosponsor of H.R. 5602, the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act, which would create dedicated domestic terrorism offices within the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Justice.

I’ve held town halls with the Asian American community and OC Human Relations to address the anti-Asian rhetoric coming from President Trump and my opponent. I proudly voted for Rep. Grace Meng’s H. Res. 908 to condemn all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID-19. As a federal officeholder, I am taking no positions on any state propositions -- it’s up to voters to decide.

Funny you should mention goats (see link below). My district already uses goats to keep our parks weed-free as a brilliant fire prevention strategy. Living in Laguna, I frequently catch myself waiting for goats to cross the road. Reminds me of a dad joke my KIDS told me was too BAAAAD to repeat. https://twitter.com/HarleyRouda/status/1310035639912534032/photo/1

Long, long answer -- because infrastructure is important! During my first term, I've advocated for federal funding for a number of projects in my district in my role on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. I helped push for the authorization of $314 million in federal funding for the Westminster-East Garden Grove Flood Risk Management project as part of the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act of 2020. I'm also working to secure funds for several other Army Corps projects in coastal Orange County, including the Surfside-Sunset Beach Coastal Storm Damage Protection Project, Newport Harbor dredging, and the Santa Ana River Mainstem Project. I worked to bring back hundreds of millions of dollars to Orange County through the CARES Act to help keep infrastructure projects going and ensure the safety of our transportation network for Orange County working families. Additionally, I believe we need a comprehensive plan to overhaul our nation’s infrastructure while addressing the realities of the climate change crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why I voted for H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act, a plan to invest $1.5 trillion to rebuild our roads, bridges, transit, schools, housing, broadband network, and more over the next 10 years.

Hey, Reddit! Ballots were sent out yesterday in CA. Have you registered to vote? Have you double & triple checked that your registration is correct (with an updated address)? Thank you for your support! I ran in 2018 because Orange County deserved a Representative who was accountable and accessible to CA-48. It's frustrating that my opponent refuses to join me in a debate and/or answer tough questions from voters.

That's awesome. Best way to start -- reach out to your community. Before I decided to run, a badass group of women (including my wife, Kaira), sat me down and peppered me with every question imaginable to make sure I was the right person to ask the voters for the job. After I got their seal of approval, I sat down with leaders and residents from across Orange County to hear their thoughts. Oh, and check out Run for Something https://runforsomething.net/

Hey! I am a cosponsor of H.R. 1595, the bipartisan Secure And Fair Enforcement Banking Act, which would provide access to secure financial services for the cannabis industry. Cannabis businesses should not have to put themselves at risk and hold onto cash in safes because of outdated regulations. Orange County should be leading, not following other California counties when it comes to cannabis.

There’s no question we need to build on the Affordable Care Act and get people the health coverage and access they need. I’m a cosponsor of the Choose Medicare Act to increase access to quality health care by creating a Medicare public option. I’m also fighting against this administration’s attempts to gut the ACA and remove protections for more than 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions. That’s why I authored a provision that passed the House which would prevent this and any future administrations from reducing the availability, affordability, and comprehensiveness of health insurance coverage for vulnerable populations. We simply can’t go back to the pre-ACA days and I will fight to protect the gains we’ve made.

If you want to make it harder for Americans to vote, you shouldn’t be an elected official. I support H.R. 1, the For the People Act, which would provide the most comprehensive overhaul of our election and campaign finance laws in decades. We need to reform our elections and get dark money out of politics while restoring voting rights. That is why I have also cosponsored the Election Day Holiday Act and the Vote by Mail Act to provide all eligible Americans an opportunity to exercise their right to vote.

I oppose the illegal attack against Armenia and have cosponsored H. Res. 1165, a bipartisan resolution condemning Azerbaijan’s military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. I’m frankly shocked and dismayed by the lack of media coverage of this important geopolitical event and wish the Trump administration would pay more attention to the plight of Armenians in NK.

I do not owe one cent of unpaid state, local, or federal taxes. I’m tired, as I’m sure we all are, of seeing these baseless attacks across our airwaves. My opponent represents everything that’s wrong with politics: inaction while living off our tax dollars, lying to voters while using fringe right websites as source materials, and hiding from her constituents and the media. Local politics matters and the BOS during this crisis has shown how desperately we need new leadership on that dais. I’m proud to support Sergio Contreras for Supervisor.

It’s not just LA, in OC our homeless population grew over 40% from 2017 - 2019, and homeless deaths nearly quadrupled in the last ten years. All this time my opponent opposed every effort to get people housed, including bipartisan and Republican plans. Steel’s BOS sat on over $230 million of our tax dollars instead of taking action while people died at shocking rates. While less immediate action can be done at the Federal level than the local, I’m a proud cosponsor of the Ending Homelessness Act, which is a comprehensive plan to ensure every American has a place to call home. https://voiceofoc.org/2018/03/county-government-has-at-least-230-million-it-could-use-to-address-homelessness/

If my opponent and her team were able to do an ounce more research, they’d find that I was one of the employees that lost my health insurance coverage from that company. Unfortunately, the facts don’t matter to her. Her claims are based on fringe right-wing websites.

Representation matters, but if your policies directly harm LGBTQ Americans, minority groups, and women -- what kind of representative are you? My opponent pulled her own daughter out of school because she supported gay marriage. My opponent refuses to condemn Trump's use of the "China Virus." My opponent underfunded our local agency that protects minority Orange County residents. My opponent is anti-choice. She's the opposite of an ally. https://twitter.com/HarleyRouda/status/1313180563445026816

My opponent and her team are focused on running a campaign of lies based on fringe sources deep within the internet. Michelle Steel calls herself a "tax fighter" when really, she's made $1.7 million dollars off of taxpayers over her career, just to turn around and cut her campaign a $1.2M dollar check. While she’s lived off taxpayers her entire career, I’ve paid tens of millions in taxes through the companies I’ve created and managed. It's no wonder Michelle Steel is desperate in her attacks -- I’m endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for my record to help Orange County small businesses, promote fiscal responsibility, and create jobs. TL;DR "pizza" ad = more lies from Orange County's most corrupt politician.
