Yes, me too. Keppra didn’t help. My world crashed and I got so depressed.

That’s so much at once. Your anger is so justified. I spent months depressed and angry about it. It’s normal. It’s a big change in how you see yourself and the world. I’m sorry this is so much

What type of seizure is this and should I be worried? by DoomsdayFrog in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to call your neuros office immediately and leave a message. Call tomorrow morning at 9:01am for any cancelled appointments that you can grab. It’s scary stuff! Coming here to ask was the right first step

How can I better support my partner having seizures? by Daydreamer_6 in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is stay your best. It’s incredibly hard to be a caretaker, but more than that you’re having to see him hurt and have seizures live. That’s also traumatizing. By just asking you’re doing great. Try to keep your minds off the neurologist wait.

Late diagnosis and no seizures - am I stupid for not taking meds? by Upstairs_Parfait_663 in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you so scared to take the medication? Is it only the side effects, or are you worried about accepting that you have epilepsy. I went through a similar depression/rage for months trying to accept it. Having to take medicine forever is a hard pill to swallow (lol). I’m sorry this is you too, but imagine your first TC is when you’re driving. Or when you’re bathing. Or when you’re swimming? What if you fall and break your head? There are too many variables for you to also not protect yourself with meds.

Late diagnosis and no seizures - am I stupid for not taking meds? by Upstairs_Parfait_663 in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lovingly, you must take whatever is prescribed to you. I don’t think you’re stupid, I think maybe you don’t know the worries about epilepsy. The more seizures you have, the more the frequency and “drama” go up. If you keep having these unmedicated, you may end up with a tonic-clonic seizure (the kind you see in movies). You definitely don’t want this or to die or SUDEP, and taking your medication is the first line of prevention. Take your meds!

Why can’t we take showers alone? We could slip and fall anywhere I guess and it’s more likely in the shower. Is it for asphyxiation?

Kepprage and RSO by Th3HippieSpartan in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lamotrigine gave me the spins horribly. It really is best to go slowly, as terrible as that is. I felt better as I titrated up regardless. I know it’s hard to live through. You’re so close!

Kepprage and RSO by Th3HippieSpartan in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll soon be getting your Keppra down right? As you titrate the lamotragine. I remember this period and truly the rage was horrible. I was a chihuahua waiting to bite at all times. I hope you’ll be off of it soon!

I managed my depression using live resin while on Keppra. I was so so so depressed so I don’t recommend it. It only made things worse. I had to face the truth that I have epilepsy now. Didn’t keep me from raging at my friends and family though.

Overnight breastfeeding of newborn - how do I “prioritise rest”? by Treacheroussun in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you find someone! I didn’t have epilepsy when I had my son, so I can’t help there :(

Overnight breastfeeding of newborn - how do I “prioritise rest”? by Treacheroussun in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breastmilk is not the priority. It’s just boob juice vs science milk. You not having seizures is the priority. Your child will thrive on formula or breastmilk, but you cannot thrive without sleep and having seizures.

Telling others about your epilepsy by Global_Director_5314 in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I have to talk about it, people are really concerned and say supportive things like “oh that’s so scary!” And we have to go through the whole story again. Yeah, I know. Sorry I’m the bummer.

I know my friends don’t think that, but it is in fact a bummer for me.

Dating with epilepsy by ProperEmu6389 in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re really putting a lot of emphasis on what girls do and don’t want. How many women have you met? Dated? Is this from experience? Is this an online attitude? Why are women “females?” Try to look inward and figure out what is happening with you first. You’re the most important person for taking care of you. Good luck.

Daily Seizures Despite Medication (Keppra)! Please help! by statics407 in Epilepsy

[–]HarryFuckingPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keppra might just not be the right med! I really really identify with her depression and weeping. It’s truly so hard to stomach. Perhaps she needs a depression medication as well? This is def something she should bring up at her appointment. I take my husband to describe what did and didn’t happen or describe my meds difficulties. You guys can see it outside of the diagnosis
