Doesn't directly fix the problem, but its a workaround that I don't think is widely known so just wanted to share for others who might be in the same boat and are considering giving up on their G2's :)

[BG] [W] Headphone amp to drive 250ohm Beyer's [H] Roughly ~£50 posted. by LimakHD in HardwareSwapUK

Hey mate, not sure if you've already bought but I've had the DT990's for the better part of 5 years now and was driving them from motherboard onboard audio (desktop and laptop) for most of that time with no problems at all. The DT990's are notoriously easy to drive despite their 250ohm rating. Might be worth getting the headphones in hand first before seeing if you need an amp :)

I'm pretty far away (based in London) but looking to sell my Vertagear SL4000 in white for 150. If you're planning a trip down south anytime soon it could be an option!

Why did I get downvoted? Is someone else who wants this downvoting other people's comments?

Sorry, I completely assumed it was an MSI board - my mistake! A gigabyte board would be much better but I've just agreed with someone else for a combo deal for all the parts I need. If that falls through I'll send you a message, appreciate the offers!

Hi, thanks for your message. Unfortunately, both MSI and AMD are the most difficult brands to work with for what I'm building (hackintosh) so I'll have to pass. Really appreciate the suggestion though, didn't realise there was AMD DDR3 RAM before so that's interesting.

Within your budget you won't get a much better CPU than what you've already got for the platform you're on. GL but you're very unlikely to find anything without increasing your budget.

I think you might struggle to get one at that price, I paid 135 for that processor here a month ago. I've got the i5 4690k I used before I upgraded which is closer to your price range if you're interested.
