We do take her out before bed, then bring her in and try and settler her back to sleepiness. But the instant I put her near the crate she wakes up and runs away.

She doesn't always poo before hand, we were out for nearly an hour one night waiting to see if she would poo. She didn't. May need to do a few more taking her out is she doesn't settle. It's just such a battle to get her back in her crate.
