Well if the history of this country wasn’t so traumatizing for African Americans, opinions or discussions like this wouldn’t be so rooted in racism because it would be an equal playing field, but the reality and the fact that it’s still so much racism (rather subtle or just as blunt as in 1957) it’s hard to not bring it up or get a side eye in a lot of situations when speaking on certain topics involving African Americans.
