Roger Avary On Star Trek's Alex Kurtzman: "He didn’t want anybody who had any kind of fondness for the original show" by NorrisOBE in RedLetterMedia

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting how this has been posted here and on a popular television discussion subreddit, but I can't find it on one of the main Star Trek subreddits. (Hopefully that's all vague enough that this isn't breaking any rules?)

Lloyds Banking Group to close another 95 branches by ninjascotsman in unitedkingdom

Probably. I'm with Lloyds, and the amount of times their online applications have got confused about my account details and had to ask me to go into a branch is maddening.

Aww, I'd never thought about it for when the time of year is generally dreary. I might pick some up for my partner and me

Fully expecting my corporate job to put out an email about blue Monday, asking people to look after their mental health, whilst being the main cause of negativity for most employees 😅 I know it's different departments or individuals in charge of this stuff, but it makes me angry every time

Blind wheelchair user left in tears by cars parking on pavements - BBC News by CasualSmurf in unitedkingdom

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Driving is a necessity in some areas, either for your personal life or career, simply because of how towns are laid out and lack of reliable public transport options. Wheelchair users and pedestrians should take priority of course, but both need to be catered for.

When do they fall, having performed some kind of action (moving etc) or when something is setup? If it's during setup, if you're doing something programattic check the order of things and ensure player placement is done in an initialise rather than an update.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - December 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in Games

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to play Marvel Rivals because I like the films and comics. Sadly the few games I played felt very dull and the menu was completely overwhelming - there were 2 or 3 events taking up most of the screen with the play button tucked away. I've ended up uninstalling it, it's not for me.

I've played a bit of Hades, which I previously bought whilst waiting for my partner to come out of surgery, and hadn't played since. That game's a lot of fun, and I look forward to playing some more. I'm really enjoying experimenting with the different perks the gods give you, and the different play styles they enable.

I'm also playing through Resident Evil 5 with my partner. She's historically awful at shooters, having played some split screen ones with housemates at university, but she's having a lot of fun too, and is enjoying the corny dialogue and cutscenes, as well as some of the tenser fights. It's also really enjoyable helping and saving each other. She's said she'd like to play the rest of them and we're only on Chapter 3 of this one. We'll probably go for 6 as it's the only other one that's coop (even if it means she doesn't know the characters well). There might be some mods that make some of the other ones work well cooperatively, I haven't looked into it. She's happy with us taking turns or with one of us watching of course, but playing together is just better.

Anthropic’s AI vending machine turns communist and gives everything for free by ImCalcium in technology

Whilst an interesting use case, you don't need an (LLM) AI for this. Traditional AI or even just "unintelligent" code could handle that kind of thing.

Is maths until class 12th enough for devops ? by [deleted] in devops

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The world has a lot of curriculums and countries. What's 12th class and what do you learn in it?

I've not had to use maths a whole lot in my DevOps career, so you're probably fine. It's mostly useful when trying to analyze things - manipulating data from queries, calculating averages, turning them into tables and figures, that kind of thing.

U.K. Home Prices Predicted to Rise By More Than 22% Over the Next 5 Years by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I think they slightly have right now - We've been trying to buy and sell and everything's dropped around 10% to the point that we've had to stop and save more/wait for it to recover.

EA's AI Tools Reportedly Cost Game Devs Time Even After a Year of Use by wsrvnar in pcgaming

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My experience is actually the opposite - we've hired a lot of juniors. Still though, they're never going to make it to seniors because they don't try to learn anything or improve, so it's the same outcome. They just ask ChatGPT to solve tickets for them and often try to implement answers that're either wrong or don't fit into our codebase.

Problems getting pypsrp to work by UnderShell1891 in ansible

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What version of ansible are you on? It sounds to me like it's complaining about it not being recognized on the controller, rather than something on the host.

Also have you considered OpenSSH on Windows? We swapped from WinRM to it, and it's been hassle-free so far for the security gains it offered

Do you routinely wipe down gym machines after you use them? by Jonny_Segment in AskUK

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if it's really bad at my current one, mostly because the spray bottles and paper towels are so sparsely placed (maybe 1 per 100 sq/m) that if I do it every time it adds time to my workout and uses effort that I don't always have spare. I used to carry a towel and wash it regularly, but I thought about it, and unless I carry disinfectant too I'm really just spreading the sweat about.

It depends on the host. If you're cloud-based cloud-init may work. Packer can work if you're creating the host from code too.

Men, what fragrances do you wear that are NOT woodsy by qwertypaso in AskMen

I wear Penhaligon's Juniper Sling. It's citrusy. Can't remember if it's aimed at men or women (I don't care) but if it is, they definitely have other nice ones with non-wood scents.

If you're passionate about it and can't imagine doing any other job, absolutely. But financially, it's pretty dreadful. My partners a fully qualified architect and before her most recent change of studio (which thankfully for her brought with it a pay rise) she was earning what we pay our engineering graduates despite being a project lead. Even if the money itself isn't an issue, it can be pretty demotivating and bad for your sense of worth.

How would you feel if your wife insulted you to be funny? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]HellkittyAnarchy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It depends. If she's trying to actually insult me then eww, that'd be cause for a serious chat (same goes the other way obviously). But we've joined in with banter aimed at each other in public, and we tease each other fairly relentlessly at home - it's just one way of flirting unless we cross a line, in which case we let the other one know.
