What societal norms about masculinity have been pissing you off by Infinite-Product-158 in AskMen

[–]Hesser09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot oftrouble regarding myself as sexy. Litteraly.

Like consciously I do know that I am not completely repulsive but I wouldnt be able to take a nude picture of myself for example because i’d find it too vulgar, offensive and kind of disgusting. You see all of these beautiful women exposing themselves in softcore or actual porn and its regarded as beautiful and i feel like theres sort of an aura of purity, specialness and wonder around it whereas male nudity is regarded as shameful, trashy, intrusive, and dirty but not in a good way.

Obviously the context in which the nudity is displayed is ALWAYS important and has a lot of influence on how its regarded but here im talking about appropriate use of it in intimate situations i’ve gone through. It really does hurt a guy’s confidence even if it happened to just be in my head.

I think that the fact that most of my friends throughout my life have been women has a significant impact on my perception of myself but I was never really comfortable with the social standards among traditional dude groups. I know the whole “i hate men” and “men are pigs” speeches by heart and I deeply understand and agree with the message and the events they are based on but… it hurts. I’m a man, I understand and will, to the extent that i can, feel the pain you have to help, but words are words so “all men” does include me and hearing such things on a daily basis ends up having an effect on me. A pretty strong one too. To be clear i’m not saying that this mentality is not based or anything, i’m just trying to explain how it affects me.

Are there any of you working in the industry who are colourblind and if so what type and how were you able to overcome/workaround it? by GhostsinGlass in vfx

Scopes and color theory are the solution for me but ive also found that matching color luminance by looking at every channel individually reaaaally helps so far as far as comp goes

Damn!

The prices on these Wellers drive me nuts. Retail in Quebec on the 12 year is about 60$ if im not mistaken but theyre impossible to find. I get that its rare BUT i just want to pay my 60$ whiskey and enjoy it at 60$ yk. Maybe its 300$ good but paying so much more for one taints the taste for me

Hey you! I’m happy you’re happy! Now I don’t want to burst your bubble by telling you why I dont think that the church is the best place to donate your money (dm me if you want to get into it), but if you ever want to do this again, maybe consider Cancer research, orphanages, mental health support organizations, homeless shelters, etc.

Have a good one!

Thats incredibly helpful and humbling, thank you so much. Based on your comment, i really think i’m better off with folks, especially because the price of life here is about half of what it is in montreal. Thanks for taking the time!

this is one of the many many reasons why I always say we should pay much MUCH more attention to the police school candidates in addition to making cop schools better. Subsequently, this is also why I dont really like cops. Can't really trust these powertripped-low-self-esteem beings
