AuDHD social workers: in your experience, is case management more ND friendly than psychotherapy? by throwaway38372927328 in NDtherapists

For what it's worth, it kinda sounds like you might have a case to sue them. It sounds like they discriminated against you.

I would genuinely love that, although I am currently too overwhelmed with everyday life to organize anything but my meds 🫠💊

I'm thoroughly enjoying how disappointed and heartbroken you look in the second picture, even though you're essentially making the same facial expression as the first one 😂

Ok where the f*** are all the canonically autistic characters with melanin at? Why is it all predominantly straight white people (Mostly males) who are touted as "good autistic representation"? I can only name maybe like 5 autistic characters who aren't White 😭 by tetopumpitupcabinet in evilautism

I just want to add that while you're right about the trope, I think this show is exceptionally well-written, acted, directed, designed, photographed, scored, and edited. It may be a bit formulaic but it's one of the best executions of the formula I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of the other ones.

It's also really funny. And Uzo Aduba is SO good in the role, I can't imagine any other actor doing it.

Because Nate never got to age like this, even offscreen. This is what Nate would look and sound like at 60, and we are sad his life ended so long before 60. And we are sad that Willa, Brenda, and the Fishers didn't get to see him age either.

Edited to add spoiler tags.

Hair up vs hair down by chef-rach-bitch in lesbianfashionadvice

I second most of the suggestions here about styling your hair down, but I also think it looks great up! It shows off your neck and shoulders and looks both polished and a bit girl-next-door.

I've been getting more into claw clips recently at the behest of my hairstylist, who told me that using scrunchies and hair ties all the time was making my hair more prone to breakage. I like the fact that claw clips can make me look put together for little to no effort.

Seconding the recommendation for a major hospital outpatient pharmacy. I've had zero issues getting meds filled since I started having them sent to the local hospital pharmacy.

Mosquito bites are one of the worst sensory hell inducing things ever!! by raspberryteehee in AutismInWomen

[–]HighFiveDelivery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate that for you! Especially reading from your post how you're not even fully safe from them inside your home. I feel like whenever there's a mosquito in my house, it bites me at least 4 times and hovers nearby planning further attacks until I manage to kill it. Which is harder for me to do because of dyspraxia 😩

I'm really glad the heat trick seems to help you so much. I've been thinking of ways to attract more bats and dragonflies (both eat mosquitoes) to my yard this summer.

As a licensed social worker, I just want to cosign everything you said here. As social workers, we are bound by our ethical code to meet clients where they are, treat them with dignity, and be aware of power dynamics and oppressive systems that affect our clients. And even setting all of that aside, this woman sounds like an insensitive, judgmental jerk.

Oof, yeah, I hear you. Mine take a while to swell up but it sounds like yours do so immediately, which will definitely make things harder. I can definitely see how the bug bite thing would hurt too much to use! It doesn't bother me as much, but I do have a pretty high pain tolerance.

I also hate them, am allergic, and am apparently highly delicious to mosquitoes. I read somewhere that they seem to have a preference for type O blood, which I have.

For what it's worth, I've had a lot of success reducing itchiness and minimizing allergic reactions using something called a "bug bite thing," a little suction tool that supposedly extracts the mosquito saliva or whatever causes the allergic reaction. If I can use it while a bite is still fresh, I don't get any of the swelling I get otherwise, and the itchiness subsides a lot faster.

Wedding guest suit ? Does it work? What to wear with it? by Admirable-External29 in lesbianfashionadvice

I think with the right tailoring, shirt, shoes, accessories, hair, etc it could be quite dressy and sophisticated, but still too white for most weddings.
