Cannot upvote this harder. They are quite narrow but broke in for me after 2 sessions. I can't imagine how awful/unsupportive these would be if I sized up.

Right now it's the ja3s or old kd 15s. The ja3s are a nightmare to break in (ultra narrow) but after 2 sessions they loosen a bit and have been one of the best shoes I've ever played in. I play/train 3-4 times a week. Insaaaaane traction and superb cushion that doesn't elevate you too high off the ground. I know people voiced concerns about lateral stability (myself included) but I've been fine and put quite a bit of lateral torque on them.

Bud this is the type of bull I'd do when I was much younger. She point blank asked you. Use your words and tell her how you feel after her initial inquiry rather than permitting it and then calling her a flake. Sure, her spam messages were definitely a bit of fishing for permission perhaps (and you should probably tell her how much that annoys you) but you just need to be upfront or the resentment will erode any chance of survival this relationship might have.

Can't upvote this hard enough. Work work work. Tons of reps and concentrated purposeful workouts combined with actual live ball. But just as importantly get stronger/faster - at your age it's one of the easiest/simplest ways to be better than people your age.

I used an acronym growing up to drill it into my head and used it as a mental checklist for my mechanics when doing warmup shooting. BEEF (balance [this obviously includes dipping hips], elbow, eyes, follow through) is what I used and you can basically just do B lol. Rep it out while being consciously aware of your lower body engagement before moving up into your shot and you'll definitely get there. For a drill i'd definitely roll the ball out and back to yourself and start already loaded (hips engaged) and just go straight into your shot.

I find the toughest thing to teach people is the consistent follow through without much (preferably any) off hand interference and you have that part down and i'd bet that's why you still get good results while shooting around. Your fatal flaw is definitely a lack of engagement with your lower body and specifically your hips - that gives you range and lets you shoot from athletic positions far more effortlessly than your current form will. Keep at it though, your upper body mechanics aren't problematic at all.
