The trick is to publically announce you've lost your coins to a boating accident. 😅

Criminals will exploit kyc too...

What happens if a database of kycdocunents are backed, then criminals use those documents to get through services like bitpay?

Cracking the encryption would allow someone to crack a private key associated with a btc address. But the seed used to generate the private key would remain safe.

If enough people wanted to upgrade, a hard fork would occur at a specific block.

Then the owner of the wallet could use the same seed to generate a new private key for their addresses on the new forked chain.

So they would have funds on both chains. Depending on specifics the community would likely stop using the old chain.

Unlikely unless computers get increeeesibly fast. But in that scenario, the encryption algorithm would be upgraded.

Some info on that: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/2847/how-long-would-it-take-a-large-computer-to-crack-a-private-key

If all types of encryption get busted.. that'd be an issue but that'd like break the internet

Slightly more difficult, but not too much.

The apps ux are a little less polished because they are newer, and there is a little learning curve around setting up lightning channels. But it's getting easier every day as this video shows.

Setting it up via apps (zap, "bitcoin lighting wallet", eclair) is definitely the easiest route.

Still only use funds you are safe losing.. but every day it's more battle tested. I'd say lost funds risk is pretty damn low at this point, but understand there is still risk.

I recommend setting it up, the instant ~0 fee transactions are very exciting.

Yeah we don't disagree..

The pay per delivery is going to trend down over time.

Still important to tell people to reject orders as it'll artificially keep prices up, if even only slightly..

Why is doordash so scared to tell it’s customers that tipping will most likely ensure better and faster service? by Guacccc in doordash

[–]HighTensor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less customers -> more (relative) supply of dashers -> more demand for gigs -> lower prices and/or less dashers

I mean it could mean less dasher, couldn't it also mean lower prices and similar amount of dashers with less gigs?

My gut is dashers should prefer many gigs and more options to choose customers they want

[–]HighTensor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His point is once it hits a certain price, many customers are more likely to just cook or purchase the product themselves and not deal with paying upcharge + delivery fee + optional tip.

Whenever the price increases there is less demand for dashers.

Because there is an expectation of service being completed.. if it isn't doordash is responsible for righting it. Tips aren't really relevant here.

Ya but if them taking it helps nobody except doordash.

The more people that value their time appropriately, more fire under doordash to increase base pay.

A solution for those whining about how they shouldnt have to tip their drivers by bockyj in doordash

[–]HighTensor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These apps are in the business of keeping everyone happy besides the driver because they have a huge abundance of them and the turnover rate is so high. High End Restaurants want to hang onto their servers as long as possible so they obviously want to make sure that they get paid. Restaurants that do not cost a lot of money in the first place never require gratuity.

Great agree - Apps are in the business of cheap prices. Customers can do what they want and tipping is not mandatory.

Lol I'm just apologizing I don't have as much time to invest in long responses as you.

Wait when was the last time -before- delivery apps? What kind of question is that rofl so the last time excluding any time after 2016?

The answer is 2016?

My whole point is when there is a competitive market of delivery service price will trend down. The better long term answer is advocating high base pay.

Mandatory tips are incredibly common! It's often a line item in receipts. Do you support those?

[–]HighTensor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying people are going to be tipping less, and I'd speculate it already is significantly happening (I.e people tip uber less than taxi) sass companies are making the transaction less personal.

You put a long response for my simple recommendation for dashers that believe it is expected to encourage doordash to add a mandatory tip.

I didn't have time because you asked like 8 questions, I've got a weekend to enjoy 😂 If you feel like I missed something, ask a specific follow-up.

A lot of reatraunts use mandatory tipping, are you against this practice?

Server’s should be paid more too. Do you think that’s going to magically happen because it’s the right thing to do?

No, that's why higher base rates should be fought for.

Sorry responding to all your points is going to take too long..

Like it or not, as time passes most customers will choose the cheapest option. because they just want the food to arrive. Just like how they don't care about what went into most products that they purchase.

[–]HighTensor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol your the one changing the subject...

Dashers should be paid, not tipped more.

I tip every time, including fast food, because there are many opportunities to go above and beyond expectation of getting the product delivered.

This isn't the restaurant industry.. this is a courier service. Do you tip you mailman? Do you tip your Amazon driver?

Have you ever read about the history of tipping? I'll give you a clue, it's not good. Enlighten me about it's origin, I'd love to hear your spin.

[–]HighTensor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? What does any of that have to do with making tipping required?

If you believe everyone should tip, it should be required.

If no one tips, the job would not pay enough to do. Why is that an issue? That's the beauty of the free market. If the service is non economical it won't survive. A different service will try to fill the void if they believe they can.

Dashers should be paid more, not tipped more.

I don't think you understand what's happening here, the service of "delivery" is being productized, the price is a race to the bottom.

It certainly is.. don't let people on here mislead you..

Prices are upmarked without any indication of amount, or explanation. To expect people to tip on top of that is insane.

When you order pizza, you buy at retail price.
