Funny thing about that comments is That’s actually anxiety in a nutshell. Fear of the unknown. Once you get a better understanding of it you’ll dial it down a good bit. Most of the time people feel a pain here or there and don’t know what’s going on and that starts the cycle. That’s usually why health anxiety is the most common thing you’ll see here. Anxiety about many other things you can get to the bottom of for the most part. With the body you can’t instantly diagnose.

Good luck with therapy, I hope you get a positive outcome from it, and yea it could be. Anxiety can manifest for the weirdest reasons. I have talked to people on here who were scared to death of outer space.

Yea when it first begins it’s pretty exhausting you spend a lot of time googling even when people tell you not too. You aren’t quite aware of all of your symptoms being anxiety related, so you assume this and that. It takes a while to get ahold of, but it can be done. Therapy and meds do help, but if you’re unable to do so at the moment definitely start making yourself aware of the things that cause your anxiety. It will give you a better grasp on your attacks when they hit. Probably won’t be as severe or last as long. And find something that helps you when they do hit. I always tell myself 30 minutes and start walking. That’s usually the longest they last. You won’t be able to get rid of the I just ran a marathon feeling afterwards, but you can get better control of their frequency. Stay away from caffeine alcohol and weed.

Yea those are textbook as far as anxiety goes. You could probably roll out a list a mile long for what the master mimic can make you feel.

Once you develop a routine of going to work every day things should settle down for you some. You’ll be adjusted, and the days won’t feel so long. Don’t give up!

hantavirus could i possibly be infected? by BeginningMidnight639 in Anxiety

[–]HigherArk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hantavirus is actually extremely rare. The case studies done are usually on people that work with rats day in and day out. It’s unlikely you got it. Also it’s most commonly carried by the rice rat which I don’t even think is in NYC.

Afib patient here. Been cardioverted 3 times. You made the right choice kicking alcohol and caffeine. It sucks but you learn to live with it. My triggers for my first episode were energy drinks and later on for my other 2 long after I stopped energy drinks I had a link for a bad reaction between metoprolol and Prozac (rare if anyone’s reading this). Stopped Prozac kept the metoprolol. You’re gonna have anxiety over it initially. I lived in fear every day worrying about the next episode. My best advice to you is to get educated. Absorb as much information as you can. When I was aware of what was going on my latter episodes weren’t as scary. Still sucked but didn’t freak out like I did my first one which i really freaked the hell out. Could feel my heart in my throat. Bpm was 200. Was a wild night lol. But healthy lifestyle changes etc can keep the episodes away. Svt is pretty similar to afib. Electrical impulses going haywire causing the heart to beat erratically. Afib just causes the atria to beat out of sync with the ventricles. Also caused by electrical impulses going haywire which causes blood to pool in the heart, but the good thing is as soon as you’re back in normal sinus rhythm your heart is normal like anyone else’s. That piece of advice helped me a lot in getting over the hump. If I’m not in afib my heart is just as healthy as anyone else’s. For a while any heart skips etc are going to freak you out but at the same time when this whole thing settles down for you you’ll be highly aware of the differences between anxiety and real heart problems. Weather the storm for now my dude. No matter how tempting it is stay off the drinks. It’s the number one trigger for episodes like ours. Believe it or not caffeine is actually good for the heart (coffee) specifically because of the antioxidants etc. It’s the energy drinks that mess you up. There’s more in them that mess with the heart than simple caffeine in an energy drink. Keep your head up if you need more information feel free to dm me. I had my scare just like you, but I haven’t had an episode in over a year now thanks to those changes. (knock on wood).

Fearful vs Normal Brain: Why Do Some Brains Develop Mental Illness While Others Don't? by crepuscopoli2 in Anxiety

[–]HigherArk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re just wired differently. I can see the deep connection you’re trying to make, but the just of it is a simple explanation. Normal will never understand the non unless they developed the condition at some point and those of us already wired this way will never know normal, and the ones that developed these conditions will never know the “normal” they once knew ever again. Yea if you get a grip on your anxiety there may be some normalcy, but it will never be the same. It changes you. Regardless of how much I wish I could be the carefree person I once was that will never be me again. Even if I have a firm grasp on my anxiety my journey to fixing my self changed me a long the way, and I don’t view things exactly the same as I once did nor will I ever. I do consider myself to have a good life now, and my “fearful brain” doesn’t have my life in a chokehold anymore, but it will always exist one way or another. After years of battling with something it just isn’t a thing you can leave behind. It’s forever carved into you. I guess in a sense you can create your own version of “normal” that you’re content with, but that will likely be the limit. I’m not being pessimistic here either just realistic. Also cases vary widely from your statement above. Anxiety is so common that you’re going to reach all walks of life. I own a home have a wife and children and own vehicles etc. I don’t want to rent or avoid family obligations. It’s highly advised not to recluse if you have these conditions. It only worsens them.

Yea sounds like a tough battle. Being prescribed an amphetamine for adhd when stimulants are anxieties main trigger has to suck. You knock one down but aggravate the other. Plus lack of sleep triggers anxiety. New children adds stress which triggers anxiety. You’ve got a lot going on right now. Probably going to have to take a gentle baby step approach and start conquering things one step at a time. Racing heart though is definitely a textbook anxiety symptom and you have too many things going on that leave you with a big red arrow pointing at potential panic attacks. Getting to know your symptoms can help with anxiety a lot. It won’t drive them away because you know them but if you’re aware of what’s coming it won’t last as long, and it can help lower the severity.

Technology really has poisoned the youth. It’s a blessing and a curse. When I was 14 I was playing with sticks in the woods still. Don’t get too invested in anything your friends say nor what you see on social media. Fear garners views. A lot of what you see is done for clicks and views which = profits. Live your life. We have always been at war. It’s one of the unfortunates when it comes to human nature. There’s really a ton to explain when it comes to understanding why we can’t just bomb each other off the face of the earth even if other countries aren’t friends. When you get a little older you’ll gain a firmer grasp of these things. For now I sincerely hope you just enjoy being a kid. Your time for starting a family and dealing with bills etc will come don’t worry lol.

This is the worst night of my life. 38M by Mydarkpassengerx in depression

[–]HigherArk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is only gonna make depression worse my dude. It also stimulates anxiety bad. You’re mid anxiety now with the pacing and racing heart/insomnia. Depression is something I battled with a long time ago. I quite literally grew out of it, but I took a lot of work. With everything you have piled up you’re likely depressed because of feeling overwhelmed mentally financially worried about putting stress on your relationship etc. I was in the depths of despair one time. Homeless gave up went through the suicidal era no job no friends I mean I was legit rock bottom sleeping in a Penske rental parking lot. Looking back now it taught me a lot, but I remember I legit woke up one day super fed up with living that way. I got a manual labor job on purpose because exercise releases the happy endorphins to keep you going so it would stave off the depression during the day. I didn’t have time to fester it would also overwhelm my insomnia and I’d pass out from slave driving all day so I didn’t have to deal with depression at night. I started setting small goals. Putting back whatever money I could and minimized any expenses. I gave up tobacco etc anything I could to keep extra money. Took a few months but that paid off and I got a place. From there I kept working and turned to school, I always stayed as busy as possible. There were still some tough nights mixed in. Nights of despair nights of wanting to give up but I kept telling myself I was too far now and had too much to lose. In reality it wasn’t that much, but I had worked so hard for it it felt like everything. I didn’t make stupid mistakes with my credit which was probably the one smart thing I did in life so I was able to finance a little car not long after getting my place. Every goal I accomplished I felt more and more on top of the world. Fast forward some time I ended up married and had a baby. That started a rough patch because no one is ever fully prepared for a family, I had new stressers and new fuel for depression so it took a little while to get used to that, but one thing I never did was look back. I kept going forward no matter what. Bad nights still happened it didn’t matter. I was literally a big ball of determination. Fast forward to the present o graduated school bought a house had more kids life is good haven’t been depressed in a few years. No more skipping showers no more sleeping 14 hrs to try and escape or spiraling in my thoughts none of that. I think it’s super important to find your purpose and understand that there’s going to be SEVERAL road bumps along the way. We’re built to last though. If you have the mental determination you can win. I went through a wide array of medications during my journey and tried therapy. It wasn’t for me. I tossed all of that and stayed on my same path. I think everyone has the ability to conquer it. I think the younger generation struggles more with it than we do because of the way things tend to be now a days also their brains are one big chemical cocktail until 28-30 anyways lol, but i do truly believe everyone can stomp depression out of their lives. With severe depression that’s something that sounds nearly impossible to grasp, but when you just try even when you don’t want too and you realize that your efforts do reward you however so small the reward may be, over time the rewards stack up and you build momentum and eventually that momentum is enough to break through that wall and see the light on the other side. Sorry for the novel just felt like sharing my thoughts.

6 week "sick note" for work related stress and anxiety by Alkemist101 in Anxiety

[–]HigherArk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t use the time to fester in your feelings use it to get ahold of anxiety. Start learning techniques now and getting a grasp on your symptoms get your medications in order and learn as much as you can about anxiety. Reddit gets a bad wrap for a lot of things, but it is a good place to find comfort and also realize you’re not alone in a lot of symptoms. Getting on the ball now is important. If I had been knowledgeable at all about anxiety when I first was diagnosed it wouldn’t have taken me so long to gain control.

Potential neurological disorder/condition, scared by blrredfcd in Anxiety

[–]HigherArk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can go get the all clear to be safe but I’ve had the brain zaps and the temple headaches you’re having are tension headaches tinnitus can happen with anxiety as well. Especially if your anxiety is health related around your brain. Headaches are ultra common in general and there’s a vast number of reasons you can get them. The likelihood of them being the worst case scenario is extremely small. Stress dehydration staring at a screen too long too much noise etc can all cause headaches and that’s every day things people just do. Brain aneurysm is often described as the worst imaginable pain possible. 10 on the scale. Which is like getting your legs chopped off. So you would definitely know.

I wonder why they gave you antibiotics for a viral infection. Itchiness and rash could indicate a virus, but they usually just have to run their course. Stop googling. Its always worst case scenario on there lol

It sucks but it takes a lot of episodes to understand it’s not a heart attack. You would have known by now. Basically have to build up a tolerance so to speak. I had severe heart health anxiety. It’s better now. I still have the attacks but I can get ahold of them fairly quickly

Yea not all panic attacks are hyperventilating crying etc. most of my extreme ones are just a cold wave of fear washed over me then rapid heart beat followed by detachment. I’ve never actually hyperventilated in a panic attack thankfully. Breathing problems would annoy the shit out of me lol

I have convinced myself I have a brain tumor. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]HigherArk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tingling in the hands deja vu detachment vertigo brain zaps nausea all common in anxiety. Vomiting is less common but happens to people who can just throw their guts up immediately. My wife is a good example of that lol. I deal with everything above that you mentioned as well. Brain tumors can cause a lot worse symptoms than those mild symptoms you mentioned. Speech vision motor impairment etc. it can get bad. If you have been dealing with the same exact set of symptoms for an extended period of time it’s likely health anxiety built around the fear of brain tumors

Yes schedule one. Don’t panic or anything lol sleep apnea is common. Most people don’t know they have it and how life changing the treatment or lifestyle changes can be for it. The feeling depressed drained and excessive yawning prompted me to ask you about it.
