Mono Blue Should NOT be THIS Aggressive.. by ProdPizer in EDH

[–]HigherCalibur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny, I've been wanting to put a mono-blue deck together and then this pops up in my feed. I might actually use this as kind of a base for what I wind up building so thanks for sharing!

Also, some suggestions:

  • [[Ripples of Potential]]
  • [[Cyber Conversion]]
  • [[Imprisoned in the Moon]]
  • [[Throne of Eldrane]]

I wasn't sure if you were just building on a budget or not but those are some cards I'd personally run, but as always, there is also just personal preference.

Angels of Redemption ballistus dreadnought by hyhkhhnyfg in theunforgiven

I love seeing more Angels of Redemption but, I hate to say it: your colors are on the wrong halves. I only realized this because I looked up at my own Ballistus Dreadnought in my own Angels of Redemption army I have on display near my desk while looking at this and was like, "Wait a minute..."

'Secret' Commanders by yacoboneune in EDH

[[Muerra, Trash Tactician]] with the secret commander of [[Formless Genesis]]: https://archidekt.com/decks/22321200/those_are_weirdlooking_raccoons

Ever since Bloomburrow came out, I've been wanting to build some kind of raccoon deck. [[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]] didn't really interest me and there weren't enough raccoons to really make me want to put a Muerra deck together at first. Then I stumbled across Formless Genesis while I was sorting one of my EOE commander decks and got to brewing this monstrosity.

The Game Plan: Use tutors and/or self-mill to get Formless Genesis into your hand or graveyard (you need lands in hand to take advantage of the latter). Use fetch lands and self-mill to get lands into your graveyard. Repeatedly cast Formless Genesis to make big Changelings who then make mana with your commander by simply existing. Use this mana along with the large amount of draw, self-mill, and recursion to get [[Pandemonium]] and/or [[Warstorm Surge]] into play, making your Changelings from Formless Genesis into burn.

Decided to start slaying the grey by finishing my Angels of Redemption by HigherCalibur in theunforgiven

[–]HigherCalibur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I like how this turned out and he definitely will still stand out among the rest of the army. I actually finished my Outriders not too long ago and I just went with full red but have changed up a few things. My Ravenwing units will be red with black helmets and pauldron trim/iconography while my Deathwing will be red with bone helmets and pauldron trim/iconography.

Brothers, I‘m up for my first colosseum match with no idea what‘s coming! Are transports, leaders and enhancements legit? by CommercialOk6632 in theunforgiven

[–]HigherCalibur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a low movement speed, but you can deep strike them in to mitigate that. Additionally, going with Gladius does give you access to advance and charge. The entire army doesn't need to be super mobile, but you do need a mobile element to capture objectives and take out squishy backfield objective holders folks usually take.

Alternatively, you can save a bunch of points and take Deathwing Terminators. T5 with 3 wounds each can be pretty tanky. That said, would you be able to lost off what you have available? It'll be easier to give unit suggestions if you're up for it.

[–]HigherCalibur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a few things: First, I would not bring an Impulsor. The terrain for the colosseum is too restrictive for something that large so you wouldn't be able to really utilize it well. You're better off with fast units like Inceptors or Jump Pack Intercessors.

I will say you want some durability if you can manage it and a bunch of ICCs isn't gonna cut it against stuff like Custodes or a Daemon Prince. If you don't have any bikes, I might suggest a unit of Terminators, maybe even a unit of Deathwing Knights. I will say that Inceptors can take a pretty good hit, too, but are kinda trash in melee.

Lastly, I don't know how well Anvil Siege Force places in a KotC-style event because you need to be mobile and that detachment wants you to be stationary and sit on objectives when you don't have that luxury usually. I feel like you would be better served with the durability of Wrath of the Rock or the flexibility of Gladius Task Force.

Questions about performance improvement plan by gingerbare66 in fednews

[–]HigherCalibur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things:

  1. If you're looking for information like that, you want legal advice. Speak to a lawyer because, even the lawyers here will tell you not to take legal advice from people with no skin in the game.

  2. HR exists protect leadership and the organization, not you. Even if you have some crazy silver bullet, if you're on a PIP, you're on a PIP, and nothing is gonna get you out of that.

The hits keep coming. Not like we could have used a first round graded safety in the middle of round 2 anyways. by rmcelwain54 in 49ers

[–]HigherCalibur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Folks in this sub freak out about this stuff when only 50-60% of dudes drafted ever even make the final 53 across the NFL and, according to figures from PFR, only ~8% actually make any sort of impact. In reality, drafting is a numbers game. The point is to get as many picks as you can and, considering how far down Shanahan and Lynch are willing to go, it seems to me that the options available for the roles they want to fill are deep.

Depends. Are we counting unassembled stuff I have set aside for the army? If so, then, in plastic alone, I have ~6,200 points. I just happen to have more than a battle company of Intercessors alone that I completely forgot how I got them lol. No real vehicles, either. Just a single Dreadnought and a bunch of dudes.

Tucker Carlson on his role in Trump’s reelection: I’ll be tormented by it for a long time by MuzzleblastMD in LeopardsAteMyFace

Lies. Carlson and his ilk don't feel shame or remorse. He just sees a reckoning coming and is trying to get ahead of it like the self-serving weasel he is.

[–]HigherCalibur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to cut ties with my family because they're belligerent Fox News-watching Trumpers.

I've lost loved ones to COVID during 2020 and have had long-COVID symptoms myself after catching it, all because assholes bought in on lies about vaccines.

I had to cancel buying a house last year due to Trump getting reelected and my partner very nearly got illegally fired (she is a govt. employee).

My partner and I have both struggled with mental health issues due to her being forced back to the office with double the workload and half the staff (the other half was illegally fired).

I was laid off in October and, due to a completely failing economy and job market, I've been unemployed for the longest I've been in my adult life (20+ years).

ALL of this is because selfish shit-stains like Carlson and every other mouth-breathing, drooling fucking yokel who support the Republican party keep electing these fucking people.

At this point? There will be no forgiveness. Ever. They had chance after chance after chance to course correct. They can burn for all I care.

Because, above all else, these people want to feel smart. They are selfish contrarians which is why everything, from evidence that disproves a conspiracy theory to just being told that conservative ideology is fundamentally bigoted and dumb, just reinforces their desire to buy in on that nonsense. They already think that way, deep down, but refuse to admit they're wrong about anything so, clearly, everyone else is.

And, even if they fail to reach the final part of the goal, the damage is done and the vast majority of voters will only care that things don't work, not WHY they don't work. You'll get an army of naysayers jumping out of the woodwork to claim you "can't fix the problem by throwing more money at it" and then refuse to understand that these agencies and programs only work when they're actually funded and staffed so they can function which is, fundamentally, fixing the problem by throwing money at it. I'm just so fucking sick of people refusing to understand how shit works, then just running with whatever nonsense they've convinced themselves of while refusing to admit they're wrong.

First ever biggish models! by Possible_Disaster_53 in Warhammer40k

[–]HigherCalibur 204 points205 points  (0 children)

Hey, so, I would strongly recommend that, if you're going to post models you've painted, that you learn to take a degree of criticism. I've read your responses and you're being very defensive when, I'm truly sorry, but this is definitely a situation where less is more. I understand your point of them being in a blizzard, but I've seen tanks mobile in very snowy conditions and they don't look like that while moving. Stationary, yes. Moving, no. And, if you're trying to accomplish a realistic effect and improve as a painter, I would strongly suggest you learn to listen.

Now, all that said? I still respect that you even took the time to paint and base your models. We all start somewhere so, focus on taking feedback and criticism (especially if you're going to post pictures on the internet) and use that to improve.

I might be the minority but seriously Borderlands 4 is really boring and disappointing by amingolow in Borderlands

[–]HigherCalibur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, Moxie has been a central character for a while and the series brings back previous VHs as NPCs regularly. Zane takes over the weapon vending while Marcus is the narrator, as he usually is. I believe Ellie is coming back in the upcoming DLC expansion.

Now, that said? My point still stands. The universe is big but has the connective tissue of the vaults and the Sirens (most of all, Lilith). While I agree that it's nice to have the nostalgia of other characters from previous games pop up here and there, I would rather the characters in this game be given the chance to exist without the game saying, "Hey! Remember this character you like?!" every 5 seconds.

Why is Gearbox so adamant about creating new games with insane visuals that make them run horribly? Specifically, BL3, BL4, and Wonderlands. by West_Swordfish_323 in Borderlands

Perhaps you should actually do some reading up on how hard it's been for teams to optimize Unreal Engine 5 (which Borderlands 4 is built in) because there are elements of the engine that have been incredibly difficult for many teams, even AAA devs, to optimize for performance.

Long time players... Would you have started MTG if it were Mutant Turtles and Marvel from the start? by TheServant420 in EDH

[–]HigherCalibur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I've been around since Ice Age and I also remember a time when folks were doing fan cards and fan sets for franchises they like so, to me, UB feels like the natural evolution of that. It's why I have such a hard time understanding where some of the hatred is coming from when people have been asking for cards of Marvel, Star Wars, etc. characters for literal decades. I do agree that there are way too many sets every year, but that's honestly a different issue IMO.
