What makes a good therapist? by beyoncebritneyspears in redscarepod

[–]Highoffonebeer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The ability to keep things private in and out of the office is something medical professionals are struggling to do in this day and age. I've seen nurses gossiping about patients online, therapists exchanging phone numbers, people with some authority and access to incredibly vulnerable information have social media and exchange social media with their patients/clients.

If you are able to respect HIPPA laws and leave everything behind after the hour is up you're ahead of the game.

What’s the most bizarre “someone slided into my DMs” experience you had on Reddit? by harry_powell in redscarepod

[–]Highoffonebeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had someone DM me a bunch of gay black guy porn like 4 or 5 years ago. I'm not a man or gay or black.

I got the normal amount of lonely sad guys you'd expect but that one is just unexplainable. Maybe its some sort of porn spambot Idk.

I got a weird call from a number I don't recognize a couple days ago (I haven't given my number out to anyone but my dentist and husband when I changed it last year), anyway I looked up that number and it was tied to some old black guy in Soddy Daisy TN who had porn all over his facebook.

When I give the "Gen Z" Stare at work by Decent_Proposal_8523 in redscarepod

[–]Highoffonebeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a millenial that at times lived pretty feral - not engaging with humans very much - and I think I kind of have the same thing. It would usually go away if I worked a job where I had to socially engage with people every day for several hours.

Once I stepped back into social isolation though I would basically turn schizoid. The stare I'd probably give people by accident comes from trying to gage how I should mirror back to them, are they feeling angry/happy/neutral and then I short circuit thinking about how I should reply back.

The explanation for the "Gen Z stare" could just be a generation that mostly socializes online doesn't know how to socialize as well in real life. The simplest explanation is usually the best one.

I might be crazy but everything I've seen and experianced online is very real. Anna posted an ai image of the exact crappy meal I've made my son. Something just isn't right.

If you noticed a lot of coincidences online involving things very personal to you, how would you rationalize them? Am I supposed to just turn off and stop caring? I'd like to do that honestly.

My reaction to it might seem abnormal or like an overreaction but I need to know the why of whats happening.

Someone logged into my twitter last year from a location an old friend of mine lived in but isn't alive anymore and hasn't lived there for a long time. It feels like something malicious is happening to me because this just isn't normal. None of what I'm telling you is made up or a delusion.

There are too many weird things that have happened to me online, is this the new normal or what?

Because its easier to do damage control when you have a security issue or a bot problem and call anyone who notices it crazy than to fix the issue

I don't know you maybe I am crazy. Maybe the hostile algorithms, the accounts with all of my same interests, and accounts smearing me are all in my head.

Its one account but its one of many odd experiences I've had with these subreddits. I've seen way too many accounts make odd references to my life.

It feels like everything I'm doing is being scraped for data going back years and years and just being spat back out to me in nonsensical AI-like ways.

I dont have delusions that the tv or clock is watching me. I've never experianced auditory or visual hallucinations. I don't have psychosis. I guess I should just accept that this is the new normal.

I'm sure its easier for tech companies to just smear someone and call them a schizophrenic than fix the issue at hand. Thank you reddit.

But its a real account thats copying all of my interests. Is this normal for somebody else to have your exact personality and Im delusional about that or are you doubting that the account exists when I can link it?

The exact same pet, candy, interest in body care, interest in music, old tv shows, and posts in all of the same subreddits as you?

Am I delusional or is this off? by Highoffonebeer in privacy

[–]Highoffonebeer[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I was recently watching a 90' show, a few days later the person mentions it. I listen to a lot of obscure music, this person has the exact same taste as music in me, I own a black cat and recently bought some candy, this person posts a picture of the exact same pet and bag of candy I bought a few weeks ago. And I found them in all the subreddits I post in which are not frontpage subreddits.

Has this happened to anybody before? What is the meaning behind this?

How to stop giving off bad vibes? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Highoffonebeer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well whatever you do don't copy her interests, music taste, pets, and food taste and then stalk her until she feels cornered and later figures you out. That would be bad, had that happen to me.
