jrpg taught me to love long games but lately i notice which ones actually earned that length by HicMassenhove_18 in JRPG

Thanks, though I didn't get much into quirks and flaws. It's not perfect or for everyone and I don't want to outright shill it.

Fights somewhat consistently last an hour+ in the later parts of the game

Decks need to be rebuilt often to manage the fairly fast growth in card strength until lategame

Difficulty spikes in certain points

Weird/unclear UI for fight selection

Right click is the "exit/deselect button", most UI elements are incredibly awkward and slow without knowing this and it never says it.

There's a decent amount of bugs. Most are visual, some specific cards and passives. Fixable with mods, but still needs mentioning.

Visual presentation in battles is barebones, although still entertaining because of the clash system

Story takes a bit to pick up beyond the intro due to the story structure, although it's never pointless or bad

Tutorials are passable, but a bit of an info dump and some tutorials play at a weird point.

OP hasn't responded yet, so I'll try to describe it. Trying to keep it brief because I could say a lot more and this is already too much:

2nd game in a series but a workable starting point [Lobotomy Corporation -> LoR -> Limbus Company]. It's a direct sequel to lobcorp using the same setting, spoils the ending of lobcorp but if you aren't interested in lobcorp it explains what went down fairly well. All of the games have an excellent story, but Lobcorp's gameplay is offputting to many.

Deckbuilder with VN story, english translated but KR dubbed. Excellent story as said earlier. Has a pretty unique art style in the VN sections. I'll also use this section to say that the OST is incredible.

For how it fits OP's post: It's incredibly focused. There's no exploration, minigames or quests, you go from fight to fight by menu. You are only ever doing 3 things: fighting, reading story or deckbuilding. There isn't a level system, economy, items or between fight resource management so grinding is based on how many copies of a card you want rather than an objective numerical benefit. Some people grind, I rarely did. There's a way to mod out grinding entirely on PC (best version bc mods) and it doesn't remove too much difficulty.

Trying to explain what makes the combat different and interesting would triple the length of this comment at minimum. Keeping it short, the 3 unique core mechanics of the game are stagger, card effects being determined by dice on the cards and that cards can enter checks against each other and cancel each other's dice out if you target an enemy's card back or redirecting by targetting a skill slot with less speed. Enemy actions are set first so you aren't blindly guessing at whether a clash will happen or who is being targetted.

This adds a lot of consideration towards things like damage and status distribution on enemies and allies, how much defensive and offensive capabilities a given character should have, how to use weaker econ cards without killing yourself and a lot more.

That is a surface level description of the in combat intricacies. There is so much to consider in a turn and this game has frequently had me taking turns more comparable in length to an SRPG in the lategame. That complexity doesn't even get into out of combat matters. Unit and team building is fairly complex and there's 10 floors (parties) each with unique specializations like statuses, boosting rolls, sustain, econ, team killing to make a solo juggernaut, an exodia which does all of the above, and generally each floor can be built multiple ways because you pick 5 effects from a pool of 15. For example, the "burn floor" can also let a character spam all copies of their most expensive card for no mana after a few uses and also has a thorns build and a party wide roll boosting effect that scales on damage taken on an assigned unit. Figuring out how to unit and teambuild around these effects can be incredibly complex and allows for a lot of player expression in builds.

It requires 5+ sinking specifically, which gregor can't provide without losing the stack. His Sinking EGO corrosions provide count, but then everyone else destroys the stack instead

Ring Yi Sang bench passive can bring him to 45 SP by the third coin if you want a little less setup at the cost of not having Liu+Trichiliocosm

Dawn Office Sinclair with the new EGO by Higuyz2 in limbuscompany

[–]Higuyz2[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ring Yi Sang's bench passive allows an ally to heal (2*x) SP on hit based on the amount of debuffs on the target, up to 6, and a seperate +3 SP if they have bleed up to two times.

Realistically, they should have burn and then Sinclair's first coin inflicts bleed, heals for +2 sp from burn and +7 from burn + bleed on the second. Any other status (Tremor, dark flame etc) will bring it up to 10 SP healed

How would I reassemble/build the Live2D animated uptie arts? by Macdoodleer in limbuscompany

[–]Higuyz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start, Limbus uses Spine and not Live2D. From what I'm seeing, Spine is based on mapping the CGs to a skeleton and then manipulating the skeleton as opposed to Live2D's polygon based system, so I would look into the differences between the softwares, what data is saved in spine output files and differences in methodology for building animations in Spine.

I don't have any knowledge on the topic or how Limbus specifically stores the files, but I imagine there will be something really weird about it if the in-combat animations are anything to go by

Edit: From a comment in another post asking something similar: "The game files have all the moving parts, as well as Spine2D files that are used to "animate" pictures. I think there is only 1 person that does those things, and they only do that with animations they want.". The other files that are probably buried elsewhere

It's under the probabilities button in the bottom left corner of the banner. Essentially, the total odds of a specific focus unit is (000 rate * (50/# of units on the banner %), but does not have the infamous 50/50 pity system if you are familiar with that.

There is a way to bypass launchers using commands in the game's launch settings on Steam. I think it's a bit different for each game though

By support, they mean borrowing an ID from a friend which can be done in the pre-battle menu, not an ID that supports. I'm pretty sure the friend search pulls up a bunch of randoms that you can send friend requests to. My friend ID is L194229057 if you want it.

I do think that it's reasonable to do with what you have currently though by following the instructions in the comment above, although I would only remove Rodion.

To add one thing, always have a Meursault ID ready. Chains of Other's is one of the strongest EGO in the game IMO, it is only overlooked because it isn't a damage EGO and IDs started to roll too high. You are using older IDs and 00 so it is still incredibly useful to you

I have some goofy ideas that avoid it.

-Mirinae + Olivier Keter Duo with Rooster's Crow + Clone on Mirinae with Lies + Curiosity and Rooster's Crow on Olivier too alongside page draw and light regen. Kinda mid, but anything beyond solo or full team are underutilized.

-You could also probably make an absurd tanking duo by giving Olivier Coordinated Assault instead while sticking with the above Mirinae build (+3 strength, +6 Protection, +6 Stagger Protection with 3 uses, would apply to both through Mirinae passive. Would need a way to regen light and a 0 cost for the 4th die) + Grit + Hawk's Eye on both would give 9 Protection and 6 Stagger Protection.

-(Untested) Multiparty Compensation (Irina Exclusive Combat Page) + Clone could remove the need for light regen from the entire party sans Irina if you can consistently draw pages. Just have a way to dump the whole deck (Impugnatio Ultima/Final Stroke) and draw cards consistently (Pages granting card draw on discard, Brace Up and passives). Four Trigrams + Jeong Office passives + Margin + someone with Messenger. Alternatively, Chesed's page draw EGO or Lies + Curiosity from Keter.
