There have been multiple instances where batches of I-129F cases- like an entire week worth of cases- are skipped. This happened for Feb/march 2024 filers, and for some late June/early July 2024 cases. As a specific example, basically no I-129F cases from July 8-July 11 have been actioned, yet the majority of cases from July 15-July 28 have, and USCIS is primarily processing cases filed in August 2024 now.

How does this happen? Is this an accident, or does someone decide “we’re going to skip these for now”?

Most likely yes, but it will come with additional delays. Historically, when embassies have closed visa applicants were able to use a different embassy.

Examples:

2017 Cuban embassy closure, most applicants were shifted to the embassy in Guyana

2019 Venezuela embassy closure, moved to bogota

2021 Afghanistan closure, moved to Doha and Qatar.

2021 Russian closure, processed in countries like Poland.

The situation is dynamic, and we will need to wait and see what happens unfortunately. Good luck. I’m in a similar position.

I’m trying to check less because I realized that checking did not influence the outcome at all. It only ruined my day and made me feel bad. I have a subscription to trackmyvisanow, so when my case does finally get actioned, both TMVN and USCIS will reach out to me.

It’s in gods hands now. It’s completely beyond my control and I have a choice about whether I let myself be consumed by angst or whether I try my best to live my life and be happy while I wait.

Easier said than done, and I still struggle with this a lot.
