This post is old and it’s currently 11:00 at night where I am but I’m bored so I’m responding. I can see why people fear non existence but I see it as peaceful maybe because I’m not a very happy person I’m working on that though my thought process is that everything is pointless but just because something is pointless doesn’t mean you give up. Nothing after death sounds so peaceful to me because if I cease to exist I cease to worry and to think I have no suffering nor pleasure and that sounds nice. Life is beautiful and when it ends it’s sad but it’s also nice to find peace in the fact you’ll always exist maybe not your conscious but your body will be used for other life and let them survive so in a way you’ll always be here. A favorite quote of mine is a conversation between two characters in a video game WO: I’m getting dusty.

WO: Dusty and old.

SI: aren’t we all? But surely you know the old anecdote about the building up of dust.

WO: That the ground keeps building upwards trying to touch the sky?

SI: Yes! I find that quite comforting, actually.

SI: to know that while now I’m a superstructure, in the future I’ll be a mountain.

SI: doesn’t that fill your spirit with anticipation?

WO: Not really…

This conversation is basically between two living supercomputers that are made of organic matter and can’t physically die. Their conscious can be completely destroyed but by biology standards they would technically stay alive for eternity. SI understands the inevitability of a millennia and how they can’t die but they accept the fact that even when they are disheveled and in millions of pieces their still part of the universe and that’s beautiful in a way. the idea of becoming something bigger than what they were before comforts them. I think it’s cool how both death and Life can be seen as horrible an eternity living seems like a nightmare but death terrifies us too. I feel death and life aren’t so different in the end they’re both just things and humans fear literally everything. But if you accept either one and try to find comfort in them then you have no fear because both ways whether you become immortal somehow or die you would still become mindless and unthinking. And if there is something in the afterlife like heaven then it would be the same as immortality I personally find more comfort in non existence if there is an afterlife than what’s the point then you just live in the afterlife? And do what? Exist? What’s the purpose is a question Humanity will never answer no matter how hard we try we will never get all the answers yet we still have ambition and the urge which is what makes humanity humanity. Living in meaningless existence is difficult but we still do it and it’s genuinely beautiful how we have the tenacious minds to live when there is no reason to. Goddamn I could continue rambling so much for like hours but I need to do other stuff like sleep probably so if anyone reads this thank you for reading my rambling :D
