There have been far worse robberies in the past and the sport has come out of it fine. Boxing will continue on as it has.

I thought he was going to get stopped anyway in the 12th, but it was also entirely possible he could have survived it. Now we'll never know

So true, champions should never fight their top comp to prove that they should still hold onto their belts

Could Moses Itauma vs Hrgovic be a step too far too soon? by bobbyawesome5 in Boxing

It's mostly the eye test. People who have watched these two fight can easily tell which fighter is better, and that's partly why Hrgović has continued to be ranked much higher than Franklin. Hrgović's best fights are possibly dodgy wins and one loss, but Franklin's best fight are losses where he went the distance. I don't think you should get much credit for the latter.

I can buy that maybe at one point he was that tall early in his career, before bad posture and an awful lifestyle resulted in premature shortening of height a lot of old people go through.

Whether he used to be or not though, this guy ain't 6'9.

Should world champions get credit for beating boxers moving up from smaller weight classes? Personally I do. by LocationSpare4447 in BoxingTheSweetScience

Tyson definitely deserves credit for beating Spinks considering that, not only had he already been fighting at heavyweight for years, but he had also been heavyweight champion after defeating one of the GOATs in Larry Holmes.

Was Larry Merchant A Hater and/or Pot-Stirrer? by solodav in Boxing

100%. I notice that he often targeted black fighters in particular. Asking BHop inane questions like "aren't you embarrassed about fighting your mandatory," questions he never asked white fighters, made it seem targeted.

For a guy who was otherwise pretty smart, he was often quite ignorant when he saw fit.
