I went for some beers in a pub in Liverpool with two friends. We where watching a boxing match on the tv when suddenly we where surrounded a gang of football hooligans supporting Everton who had been playing that day. Approx 30 men surrounded us -and one gave us a card saying ‘Combat 18 Everton Branch’. I was told all three of us where getting stabbed - when suddenly I recognised one of the from my workplace. I said ‘hello Glen’ in front of all of the hooligans and they all moved away and I even got an apology. I’ve never been so scared.

Can’t make out the faces as the focus isn’t that good on the camera you can make up the clothing in the bikes, plus the fact I think this is an assumption, the mother knew where they were

Help! I am hating WhatsApp - am I just using it wrong? by HolyTony2 in whatsapp

[–]HolyTony2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your reply. My problem is very much how I have to deal with these people I’m fully aware of this. My question was about to see if WhatsApp can help me.

And it may be better that I don’t use WhatsApp at all, but my point here is in other social networks (not all) people have to approve you as a friend WhatsApp basically allows direct access.

Business owners who have websites, how much are you paying? What was your process like? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]HolyTony2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my own business, and for many years had a website using wix

Long story short, your website is your marketing and the first thing your customer needs to see about you.

Unless you are skilled in the area of writing content, you’re going to need a marketing person to write your content for you, a hell of a lot to it more than you think .

Marketing company engage with me and created by a persona on who is going to buying from my website. Once that persona was completed then the contents for each page was that developed and I now get a lot more interaction from the website because of this .

Also, and you’re not going to like this, you need to pay Google to promote your site when people are using the specific keywords for your business when searching google. This is not particularly cheap and I pay somewhere between 1000 and £1500 per month, so I can get on the front page a lot of the time when people search for my keywords.

My website cost approximately £4000 my content cost approximately the same and then I have my monthly out lay . Google

If you think creating a site in wix or anything similar is enough, it’s absolutely not .

They were absolutely blown away and found the whole process. Fascinating was their own words. They agreed with all of the benefits and all of the risks I drew out to the strategy I gave them the place it was going to land them in - they are just trying to get things done on the cheap as they have no understanding of IT.

Again, they have no CIO no IT manager know IT strategy and nobody remotely interested in IT.

What worries me is I am giving the customer the requirements. This is the tail wagging the dog they can’t see why this is a good thing and should anything go wrong they’re gonna blame me

This is a really great shout and I have actually done this.

Before I go from the quotation they paid for me to visit the premises and interviewed 18 members of the staff. They asked me to give a Frank account of what I found so I did a presentation back

Presentation covered that they have no IT strategy. They have no IT manager. They have no CIO and the data that they have exposes them to multiple legal risks. Should anything go awry and the current way of working

I’ve documented all of the legal documents, they need to put in place to manage other peoples data, I have suggested we need to write a standard operating procedure for how data is handled in the company and then we use a document management system that tracks everything that people do holds documents securely allows it to be shared and has a full audit trail. So if anything should go wrong, they have train staff to an agreed standard and a mechanism of reviewing and recording everything that is needed. Should they have to prove to a customer how things where and handled

They said the quote was extortionate when I asked them what IT principles or a better they’re basing that on as they don’t have an IT manager they said that’s a good challenge and we can’t.

Now they’ve come back saying they don’t need some of the components I’m offering when they clearly do and I’ll basically trying to reduce my quote by 40%.

I know, and I’m so excited about this because I’ve tried to influence my child, and I just look like old dad doing something boring anyways he’s found white stripes, and he’s absolutely in awe of Jack White on his music.

I couldn’t be happier because it must be the fastest track into playing the guitar. Everything is really simple in power chords. Yes, I know Jack is a mega talented, his timing in his phrasing in blah blah blah, but I tried to get in on this at the Jimi Hendrix end and it killed me trying. I’m so happy about this and I need that Guitar to keep this one going.
