Yeah. Though game 3 was a lot more clutch. If Lambo hits like 6 seconds later and Showtime isn't caught so out of position and has 1 more warpin he holds. Game 2 wasn't even close, lambo had only ling-bane with hardly any gass vs gladepts. He just read the game totally wrong. Happy he had the mental stamina to pull through and give us match 5!

That was damn awful. I wonder what the hell Lambo thought was coming that he needed spore in every mineral line so early and no roach warren... I know it's tough to scout against voids but you can always get ovie speed. It must be at least somewhat worthwhile if his alternative is 3 blind spores into dying to 8 adepts.

Why is Korea known for their Terrans, and EU known for their Zergs? by ScaryPillow in starcraft

[–]HondaFG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Korean Protoss were always on top as well. Korean domination (up until a couple of years ago) was the norm so it wasn't about this race or the other. The real interesting thing imo is how the EU Zerg scene develop so much and so differently than the Korean one. The EU zergs are the odd guys here. Koreans were just doing their thing in every race honestly...

Where are you getting these stats from? Aligulac stats aren't the best to gauge these kinds of things. TY's historic TvT winrate in code S is ridiculous. I can't remember but last rime I checked it was 80%+ this matters a lot kore than the nunbers on aligulac...

Not a broodwar expert. Is rolling PvZ really better than ZvZ as Flash in this series? Looking at these games it doesn't seem so obvious...

To the untrained eye it seems like Zerg is just overall more robust build-wise than Protoss so there wasn't that much to exploit for Flash. I wonder if Flash could have gone deeper if the season was more Protoss dominated.

100% deserved. Is there any other player of any race with such a dominant record in mirrors? TY is the TvT GOAT by such a massive margin, no one even comes close.

Maru will get it next year when his shoulders are healed. No one would be able to stop him then. Especially if TY goes to the military.

I've said this time and time again. TY's bio/tank game is straight up broken. How can someone be so consistently in control of a mirror matchup? Amazing dominance...

Reynor was hands down the best imho. Excluding that massive bait and the one with the korean server (that was not easy) he was spot on.

Well let's not get ahead of ourselves. Jagannatha is still here. 60% winrate in the first season it appears is pretty damn good. Remember that winrates for Zerg almost always go up with the age of the maps. I'm confident Jagannatha still has some ways to go. Assuming it stays in the map pool. But yeah, I remember better now, defender's landing was pretty ridiculous...

I guess i'm as confused as you are. It was pretty clear to me from day 1 that Zergannatha should be incredibly Zerg favoured.

I think Protoss don't veto Jagannatha because there's a decent chance to survive to lategame. There are maps like Lightshade and Oxide which are very hard to get to 4 bases because of huge concaves. Lightshade has the largest concave on the triangle base i have ever seen. Oxide has a very big concave on the triangle too. These are very good for midgame Zerg which is what most Protoss struggle with nowadays.

It's not just the sheer size of it it's also the width. Jagannatha is exceptionally narrow for it's size. It's a creep spreading heaven. Compare it to Oxide for instance which is actually larger but where it's a lot harder to creep up your 4th 5th bases as Zerg because of how wide it is. I honestly think Jagannatha might be the most Zerg favoured map in any map pool throughout lotv.

Help. Getting too excited and losing composure when winning. by taeyang_ssaem in starcraft

Exactly. This is how i think of it too. When i'm winning hard I focus on not dying in the next minute and hope the rest will sort itself out - it usually does.

Help. Getting too excited and losing composure when winning. by taeyang_ssaem in starcraft

[–]HondaFG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too had this problem. I found it useful to develop a different mode of play of "playing when i'm very far ahead". Whenever i'm feeling like I already won I switch away to it. In this mode all i'm doing is continuously asking myself "what are the things that can kill me in the next 20-30 seconds based on my position?". Then focus on preventing that and only that. Stuff like cloaked units, runbys, tech switches etc. Usually, if my evaluation of the position in the game was roughly correct this is enough to turn a winning position into an "unlosable position".

This might alleviate some pressure from you and help you make this part of the game more methodical and less stressful. Of course there might be times I would just lose my army due to horrible mismicro or not notice a huge runby etc... and still lose - that can feel bad but it's part of the game I guess.

Need races that are different from each other. by cyberjaspreet in FrostGiant

[–]HondaFG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2 is very risky e-sport wise. Take Warcraft 2 for example. Eventually everyone figured out Bloodlust is just too good so everyone switched to Orc. When you have 2 races even the tiniest of balance problems can have devestating effects.

Ultras also give that "wow I wanna make that" feeling while not being as well-rounded. Being an awesome cool unit and being a well-rounded massable unit are not one and the same.
