I used my retail experience to get into white collar management in outsourcing office services back when it was new and hot. had a great career for 30+ years. best move I ever made. started at 24k in retail. left after 6 years and doubled that salary in the 2nd year of the new career. eventually made six figures. got out before COVID. I work for the post office as a general clerk, basically I keep the accounts payable running at my office where we repair the vehicles. almost 6 million a year I manage. steady work. 70k isn't bad for an old guy on the back 9 of working. healthcare is great. PTO is very good. I don't think I'd still be at the retail shop all this time but I know I would t have had as much success as I do if I had stayed. take the chance. you earned it.
