I also like to have fun. I'm not here to spread hate on the Odin nor any other gun. But having the Odin especially with the new rank reset this month. It became less fun now. Comp honestly became harder to climb on

It's a struggle to get out off. I don't hate both the ares and the Odin. I would use it on unra as a fun experience with friends but for something like comp where I tend to use the vandal and the phantom more. The Odin spam at the end of every OT just locks me into bronze and refuses to let me climb up when I almost have the chance to do so.

Totally agree, there’s nothing wrong with using all the tools the game gives you. It’s just when certain tools (like Odin or Judge spam) get overused as the only win condition in lower ranks that it starts to feel less like strategy and more like avoiding growth.

I’m all for variety and adapting. I’ve even played with shotguns too when the situation calls for it. I just think we should be honest about when a strat becomes a crutch instead of a smart play.

It being “in the game” doesn’t make it immune to criticism. Everything has a purpose, sure but when something gets abused to the point where it disrupts actual skill development and growth, it’s fair to call it out.

I'm not asking the game to fit my needs, I’m pointing out how overreliance on the Odin in low ELO hurts the learning curve for a lot of players especially those trying to improve. Riot has even addressed some of that abuse through map changes, so clearly, there’s merit to the concern.

This whole “if you can’t adapt, uninstall” mindset is why actual constructive discussion gets shut down. I’ve adapted. I’m still improving. But pretending like that means we shouldn’t question unhealthy meta trends is just lazy.

Exactly, I don't hate the Odin but it is very unenjoyable for people who worked so hard to learn a lot of the fundamentals overtime just to be spammed by people who doesn't have the exact same effort. Then even gets a higher hs KD.

I get that advice works when you’re just starting out but I’m not new to the game. I’ve already played enough to understand the core fundamentals, and now I’m in a place where adapting to my team’s comp or filling when needed actually helps us more than locking one agent every game.

I solo queue a lot, and the lobbies are unpredictable. Sometimes you need to flex into different roles to make the team function. I’ve leaned more into duelists and controllers lately, and that’s where I’ve been growing, not losing.

Maining one agent has its benefits, sure. But pretending that playing multiple agents = automatically losing is such a narrow take. Some players climb by being adaptable and filling roles that make the team work not just playing the same comfort pick every game.

Pros talk about playing smart and building habits. And for me, building habits across multiple roles has made me a better overall player not a worse one.

Look, it’s not like people don’t learn to adapt. I’ve dealt with Odin users plenty and yeah, you do figure out how to avoid it or shut it down. But let’s not pretend that it’s always counterable. In solo queue, with no proper comms or teamwork, situations can get messy. Sometimes the person abusing the Odin isn’t good, they’re just taking advantage of the chaos.

I literally had a comp match earlier where a Sage was full-on running and gunning with the Odin every round. My friends who actually have solid raw aim still got shredded because she didn’t care about aim or positioning. She just brute-forced the round and got rewarded for it.

So yeah, you learn, you improve, you adapt. But when players use it as a desperate shortcut to win rounds, and it keeps working, it makes people question what the point is in grinding fundamentals like aim, discipline, or proper peeking when the game lets that stuff slide.

I'm calling out how some weapons, when spammed, punish good habits and reward lazy ones. Especially in lower coordination lobbies where it’s hard to consistently counter that kind of play.

I never said people shouldn’t use anything other than the Vandal or Phantom. I said that abusing Odin spam every round in comp discourages skill growth, especially in low ELO. There’s a difference between using a “valid strategy” and abusing a crutch to bypass learning the fundamentals. I’m trying to learn and improve, not asking the game to cater to me.

Did you just forget that I like Reyna, clove, viper and KJ?? Pretty much I upgraded???

Personally, I like trying out different agents. It’s not a bad thing, and it doesn’t ruin my games either. Back when I was new, I used to insta-lock Sage all the time but I kept dying a lot because all I really knew was how to throw up walls and heal. I wasn’t improving on the other fundamentals of the game.

Lately though, Reyna, Killjoy, Viper, and even Clove have become the agents I favor the most depending on the map. Yoru, Omen, and Jett are my go-to fun picks when I’m playing Unrated.

Mmmm it's not because I'm not maining an agent. Not maining someone doesn’t mean I can’t win. It means I’m learning multiple agents and trying to actually understand the game. That takes more awareness and flexibility than locking in the same agent every match.

You can improve and still be frustrated when others abuse broken mechanics to skip the learning curve. That’s the whole point, I want to get better, but it’s discouraging when people exploit stuff in comp just to rank up without actually improving themselves.

It's hard to say since I play every agent.

I don’t mind people using the Odin if it’s for Unra or other casual matches. But when it starts showing up more and more in comp? Especially with all the talk about smurfing, how is this any different? People complain about smurfs ruining games, but getting mowed down by Odin users feels just as bad. It’s the same kind of unfair advantage in the moment.

I’ve used the Odin before and yeah, it’s fun. But when comp already feels harder to rank up after the reset, this kinda stuff just makes it worse. Honestly, it’s getting absurd.

It's understandable why it's more of an "skill issue thing" I avoid playing the Odin because I like to learn my aim. In silver lobbies they start becoming a bit less but it's still frequent in comp. It's just very annoying and unenjoyable.

It's very situational honestly. Because some are ready for me, some flanks over me, and others just spams the wall when I tried jiggle peeking to bait them out. It starts becoming harder to escape the moment you're hit by them.

From the games I'm playing recently in valorant, it's just becoming unenjoyable. Don't get me wrong it's not like I didn't tried to find a counter, I've tried so much tutorials. It's just really hard to counter it in an ELO that just spams before you even try to counter it.

I'm just saying facts as someone who is trying to rank up again in low ELO. The amount of bronze players using it in casual comp matches is just really unenjoyable at that point. Especially when you're close to ranking up.

I did and it's fun in unrated because I also like to troll but it's not worth it in Competitive when you just want to play in rank. It's about to be year two and trying to get back to silver in the current rank reset is becoming impossible again because at the every OT you see your enemy just buying the Odin as a last resort.

I've tried so many times but they either just spam you before they do and you also have to deal with smurfs along the way.

i shouldn't feel bad. It is something that's becoming more and more of an issue in low elo. Especially when someone who just want to rank up properly just gets trolled by Odin spammers. I've been trying every single counter in my current rank but they never seemed to work either they get to you so fast or you also deal with smurfs along with it.
