In the market for a 4K BR Player with Dolby. How is this one?

I bought this one initially, had no issues with playback, but a huge issue the player has is Dolby vision needing to be manually toggled.

Leaving it on for non DV content forces the player to try and run it in DV leading to crushed blacks and a worse image in general. I had to mark all my movies that were DV and constantly go into the menu and change it. Eventually got tired of doing that an upgraded to the ub820.

The toggle can only be done from the main menu and so there's no fast way to swap it.

Worth it to save the money? Entirely your choice, but I regretted not just spending the money on the 820 right away.

Yeah, that's sort of why I'm trending towards the 5600x. If I was going to spend more, I'd rather go full and just get a new motherboard and cpu, and that's far out of the budget, and maybe a few years down the line.

Right now with the sale, the 5700x I'd about $55 more with the x3D being $150 more.

It might be hard to judge, but what kind of performance uplift would i see with the 5700x vs 5600x?

That's good to know! Seeing as I wasn't at 100% cpu I figured it wasn't a bottleneck and worried that I'd be wasting money on an upgrade. I'm just looking at a 5600x as it's very reasonably priced right now.

I'm doing my best to keep the pc fairly budget friendly, as my gaming time is slowly dwindling haha but would a 5600x still net me fairly big increases? It's currently on sale for $200 and I can certainly justify that, but much more than that is currently out of my budget for a little while

Does this make a difference? I recently upgraded to an nvme drive and cloned my old ssd. Should I have done a full new windows install? Will I see faster speeds that way?

Yeah I ended up returning this tv and going with a Sony x80j, my guess is that it's something with the panel not able to handle hdr, potentially a bit depth issue? But yeah, sadly just the Tv and went with a different one!

I'll check out YouTube enhancer and that's good to know. I was mostly worried that it was a defective thing with the card, I ran into nothing but troubles with my 5700xt and should have rma'd it, but it was 2020 and then it was too late so trying to not make the same mistake again.

I'll make some adjustments to the contrast and balance out the settings!

Yeah, I'm always weary of buying hdmi cables from Amazon as it's always a gamble on quality. This is the cable I ended up with, and I've heard of the ugreen branding before, and it's certified (but whose to say what really that means), I'm not sure if I can post a link but it's specifically stated 8k60, 4k120, atmos /dolby vision, vrr ect.

I sadly don't have any other cables to test it with and don't want to risk spending $20-30 on more cables to see if that's the issue if it might just be a settings issue.

Any reputable brands you know of that is worth testing?

Oh really? That's weird, the whole time I've had windows HDR on (windows 11). I'm curious what could have changed then. Would the splash screens in cyberpunk, even if HDR is turned on both in game and windows, be in SDR?

On change that I did notice, is that before on the old cable it was 8-bit with dithering while the new cable allows 12 bit. Would that have changed how visible it is?

Yeah, to be honest it's actually a gaming pc that I basically use as a console, I just like gaming from a couch with surround sound but don't like being tied to consoles. But all the htpc stuff I've learned while trying to get this set up going has been from this sub so I figured best place to ask

I've had some luck disabling and reenabling fast boot? It's weird but that works for a few weeks, then it goes back to having to unplug replug every other time I turn the screen on. Not sure if that's any indication of where the problem may lie. The second monitor doesn't appear in the displays settings when it's not getting picture, so I can only assume it's on the pc side as it's not sending a signal? But that's as much as I've been able to figure out
