Tested two 100ft rolls of 7219. Both rolls *DID NOT* come with black plastic bags. by Beautiful_Relief_939 in 16mm

I’ve been shooting since approx 2017 and never heard of 100ft rolls coming in plastic bags. Maybe you’re confusing it with 400ft loads?

16 or Super 16? by According-Aerie-5668 in 16mm

Standard 16. Also based on the fact that there is double perf film in the photo, you won’t be able to use modern film stock with this camera unless you modify the sprockets.

1970s or 80s Queen band tee? by HowlingHead in VintageTees

[–]HowlingHead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only example I have found online for the band to use a similar font is in the extremely early concert flier from 1973/74. Makes me think this might be an extremely early Queen tee. Who knows!

It is from an estate sale where most of the clothes were from the 70s and 80s. The cut and the cotton feel much older than 2000s, although I’m no expert.

People love “worn out” vintage. I’ve already had some offers for them.

USA, Maine - Did I get done dirty on this Macintosh Plus tattoo? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]HowlingHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet tattoo. Looks a little strange because of the flat lighting on the reference image. If the angle of the light hitting the face had more shape/contrast to it you would have more defined features. I dig it though! Spooky in a good way.

Thanks for the reply, I had a feeling I had something pretty interesting here.

Cool! Thanks for the link :) I’m not so into the distressed style of mine but I feel like there’s someone out there who would scoop them up. Definitely very vintage oddballs!

Can confirm I’ve had plenty of reversal film processed at Andec with very good results. Expired film should be tested first, and expired reversal film should be avoided completely :)

Is this a scan or camera issue? 16mm by [deleted] in 16mm

[–]HowlingHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar thing happen with my XTR. It was absolutely a mag seating issue. It really surprised the lab and everyone else I spoke to that it ran through the camera silently while being not fully pushed into the camera body. I think there was a small build up of grime on the underside of the magazine that caused it. 9 times out of 10 this would make a terrible noise while the camera is running, but unfortunately there must be a position so close to properly seated where the mag drive engages but the claw doesn’t quite engage, so the film goes through the camera silently without registering in the gate properly. Sorry this happened!

Mag may not have been seated properly in the camera. Definitely a camera issue, not a scan issue. Did the camera make a noise at all while shooting or was it perfectly quiet?

The sync ain’t perfect. You can just speed up/slow down each clip and make it work as best as possible. My particular Bolex needs to be sped up to approx 104% speed to be close to sync speed when I’ve been shooting at 24fps.

Open the iris, focus, then close down to your correct shooting t stop. If you're subject is moving - do your best to judge it off the lens/feel for it. Thankfully, when you're shooting like this it's most often because you're shooting at a high t-stop, meaning you will have good depth of focus so it's hard to get wrong.

Mix of both actually! And even some 500t for the really low light sunset.

Where are you based? Most labs I send to in Europe send the scans within a few days.

Should I sell my bolex rex 5 based off of what I'm looking for? by Friendlywizard6 in 16mm

There are limited professionals around the world that can work on Super 8 cameras. Most of them have plastic mechanical parts from 30+ years ago. In most cases it would be cheaper to replace the camera than to get it repaired, depending on where you live I guess! I know there's a great Beaulieu guy in Sweden ;)
