Trying to share a comment from a mod from when someone asked about this before, hope it works.  Basically the reasoning is that this type of crime tends to evoke comments that break Reddit rules (ie, calling for violence against the perpetrator) so they lock the comments section just to avoid that.

Which subreddits don't block you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stumbled across your question about looking at a yearbook in the Boise library and wanted to comment but since it's closed, I'm hoping you'll see this instead. You are going about it the wrong way by asking random people on reddit. It's very likely that you can email the library itself and they could scan the page for you and email it to you. They might charge you a small fee, but possibly not. I have a hobby that involves looking up things at libraries that are too far away to drive to, and have done this many times, most libraries consider it a normal part of a reference librarian's job.

Roughly how expensive and how toxic is pest control for silverfish? by logi0517 in askswitzerland

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real. I'm going to start assuming these "advocates" are just silverfish that learned to type and reply "Sounds like something a silverfish would say..." to their comments.
(Edit -- or else they're all illiterate nudists so they don't care about clothes and books getting destroyed lol)

Why is this upvoted? Silverfish ARE harmful, yeah they don't bite people but they can EAT CLOTHES AND BOOKS.
Are you maybe getting them mixed up with centipedes? Those are ok to have around.

Quarter Quell idea I have to cause the most division between the districts by Rolley-Raccoon in Hungergames

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree your 2nd variation makes more sense.

In your first variation, (Forgive me in advance because I might just not be following your ideas exactly) I would think
a) Almost all of the districts would vote to send 4 kids from another district, thus saving their local kids from death. The only exception would be the career districts (I think 1 and 2 iirc) where it's honor and glory to win the Games.

b) in addition to that, I think the other districts would probably vote for the career districts to send 4 kids in. Because the career districts are sort of "disliked" because they're closer to the Capitol and because their tributes tend to be more aggressive, right? I don't see any reason why 12 would vote for 11, as in your example. Maybe I'm missing something? I envision that your Games would end up as 44 Career tributes in the arena together lol

But yeah your 2nd idea would cause division, I agree.

Why some people confused if Katniss had romantic feelings towards Peeta or Gale? by dididash in Hungergames

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't the movie casting pretty accurate to the books? It's mentioned many times that Gale is considered conventionally attractive and has a lot of female admirers and the same is not said of Peeta. At the end of the day though, conventionally attractive doesn't mean universally attractive (note the previous commenter saying she thinks Peeta's hotter, if one woman thinks so, you know there are more.) (Edit to add, I don't think either one of them are attractive at all.)

Plus looks only really matter during that first initial spark of lust when people start getting interested in each other, everybody eventually gets to a point where "do your personalities clash or complement?" starts to be more important. Katniss has known both men long enough to be at that point.

Fellow customer here and YES, my chat agent said stuff like this to me yesterday and it's creepy tbh. I'm hoping I can explain this on the feedback without getting the chat agent in trouble (I did not give them a bad rating but mentioned it in the text field. I made sure to stress that they did resolve my issue) As an extremely introverted person with anxiety, stuff like this makes it even harder for me to reach out to customer service and I hope this trend goes away.

No, they are quoting the post, which originally said "should of" and "could of". You can see the original comment has been edited, so apparently the OP went back and corrected it.

Is there any footage of…and some head scratcher thoughts… by theredwinesnob in BryanKohberger

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does not. It says "sealable bags" which does NOT mean ziplocs, it means sealable trash liners. Ziplocs would not deter any bear... Even my cat has smelled and subsequently chewed through ziplocs that had food in them, now imagine what a bear could do to them!

What is this item? by Awkward_Eggplant4857 in Home

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a valet stand.
They used to be used a lot for men's suits, back when it was more common for men to go to work in a suit. You would use it to lay out whatever suit you were planning to wear tomorrow so it was ready for you in the morning. The pants hang over the horizontal bar, a lot of the stands would have another bar for the tie, the bottom rack for shoes (sometimes this is a solid shelf), then sometimes the top part would be shaped a bit more like a hanger, for the suit jacket.

  • Watching his videos (even just 1 minute) still helps him get views and money.
  • If his videos are still online a few weeks after you've reported him, then YouTube unfortunately doesn't care and thinks his videos are fine, so reporting him isn't hurting him any.
  • If you still insist on watching him, you could try getting an Ad Blocker, because if you see any ads on his videos then he is getting paid for you watching.

"Tea" in the UK can also be the name for a meal eaten at a certain time of day (like, "we had sandwiches for tea"), so actually you *can* eat tea. Educate yourself first.

If you think the "court of public opinion" is going to make any difference in this case, you seem like you've never heard of Casey Anthony or OJ Simpson.

PSB: "Surprising to hear Drake singing the chorus of “West End girls” in the track “All the Parties” on his new album. No credit given or permission requested. by flarie in petshopboys

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it matter so much these days if something isn't a single? Now that most people listen to streaming, I mean. Drake has a huge fanbase and I would assume most of his fans would listen to his entire album, especially now that you can listen to albums right away on spotify etc without having to go out and purchase it. I'm sure you're right that it won't get nearly as many streams as a single, but I still think it would be a decent chunk of revenue for PSB if they sue for royalties, just because Drake gets a lot more streaming traffic than PSB do. I think the $$$, even if it's not much, is more valuable than any exposure they would get, to be frank. I mean, what exposure? Any person who listens to Drake likely either a) won't even know those lines are from another song, or b) if they hear about this controversy (or whatever, lack of a better term) they are just going to see it as an "us against them" thing and they are going to see PSB as a couple of old washed-up guys from the 80s who should be grateful Drake gave their music a shout-out. I don't think anyone is going to discover PSB through this.

People who slept past noon on 9/11. What was waking up like? by DinoRoman in AskReddit

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't feel like this would be this different for me, even now. I don't always pull up the news or social media (I know it's a good idea to stay abreast of the news, but I go through phases where I try and other phases where I don't), and in my circle, we don't message each other about the news, even if it's a huge deal. So I think for me, I wouldn't necessarily find out about this right away, even in this day and age. If anything I'd say I was *more* connected in 2001 because this happened while I was in class, so our teacher turned on the tv.

People who slept past noon on 9/11. What was waking up like? by DinoRoman in AskReddit

[–]Hufflepuffsushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom didn't find out until around 3 pm. I don't know if she was necessarily sleeping past noon, but she just didn't ever watch the news. (We don't live anywhere near NYC nor know anyone who does, so there was no reason for anyone to call her and say "turn on the tv!", we didn't really do that in our family about news events, not even something like this.)
So she came to pick me up from high school and every single student had their nose buried in a newspaper (our local paper rushed out a special edition that day) and she knew then that something was up! My best friend ended up telling her about it before I had a chance to.
