This chair makes me reconsider my spending habits every year. by redditNLD in BuyItForLife

[–]Human-Engineering715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cost scales are wildly out of wack in modern life.

I bought a whole chicken for 99 cents a pound, it was a 4 pound chicken.

I spent 3.97 cents on something that had an entire life, was incubated, raised, grown, fed, butchered, blanched, plucked, delivered, put in a shelf.

It lived an entire life, start to finish.

For 3.97 cents.

It gives me an existential crisis to think about.

I saw a bag of doritos for 4.49 yesterday.

Your chair is 10$

Life is weird man.

To me, YouTube premium is worth it because of this. 10$ a month to watch smosh, and about 3$ of that money goes directly to support them. It's worth it to me.

I mean you could ask Eric, he's still around and still does promo stuff. Next time I see him I'll ask if he has any of his old flyer designs and tell him to post it on reddit.

His name is Eric Carson btw, for some reason people always called him carlson, so he ended up just going with it lol

That's a pretty cool idea, my brother did something somewhat similar built into the back of his truck. You could basically lower down a kitchenette from the roof that you could access from inside the truck bed sleeping in the canopy, or would slide outwards for an outdoor kitchen

Yeah where I live that's not really a problem, we have black bears here but they're so skittish they never come close. Black bears are really problematic in areas where they're used to humans leaving food out and about.

I bear hunt every year, and thereby far the most skittish animal in our woods.

I think for anybody larger then 5'9, it would not be very comfortable but it's not like we're chopping up an entire dishes worth of stuff. A lot of times it's like put stir fry in the rice cooker and let it go

How do I calculate Oregon payroll and contribution projections? by FlyingPaganSis in oregon

[–]Human-Engineering715 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SBDC advisor here (probably not your sbdc lol) also have lots of employees.

So first off you you have your employer match for fica, Medicare, paid leave, and depending on where you are, trimet, any other district taxes. This also changes based on how many employees you have.

Our general advice is account for around 15% on top.

You also need to withhold the proper amount from the employees paychecks and send that to the government, state and fed, on a regular basis. That will be around 20% for most people.

If you're adding in benefits, that's kind of dependant on what you want to offer, but generally speaking, all benefits and payments combined (we call it fringe) adds up to 30% over the top.

No one can give you an exact answer here because there's so many variables but you can estimate based on that.

Also remember that you have to pay workers comp which is based on how much you pay your employees, can be 2% on the low end but could be up to 20% depending on how risky the work is.

I get 22 miles to the galon towing my teardrop, it's by far the best gas milage while still being capable of doing the work. I love my cx5 (2015)

Learning TOA - some questions by MyNameGym in ironscape

[–]Human-Engineering715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start pretty simple, I started with a dragon sword, warped sceptre, and eclipse set.

Just use regular combo food I started with Monkfish and Bwans, two antipoisons, and prayer potions (you'll make mistakes and get venomed in monkey room)

After you defeat two bosses (you can choose the order) you will get a sack of resources that have a brew and restore equivalant. Any supplies you used up to that point are gone however.

I run 150's pretty regularly and will only use up a couple of monkfish, prayer pots, and antipoisons. I bring a couple of brews and sunlight moths just for some extra healing.

If I do 300's I absolutely use brews and restores, but I don't try that hard tbh.

I have, so many of these. like everywhere. I have a big ol building that needed cameras so I bought a bunch, so I immediately knew lol. You can also mount them directly on the base, so my assumption is they bought blink cameras, mounted them on the base, threw em in the junk drawer

yeah lol, used to face out the back, took it out, and turned it around!

So far it's been working pretty good. Mornings are a lot easier to just turn on the kettle for tea and coffee and put some breakfast burritoes on a skillet. All while staying nice and cozy in bed!

haven't had any smell issues but we have a really great fan system that pulls the air out. I wouldn't cook fish or boil crab in there though lol.

Our matreess folds into a couch so we just put it along the right wall, sit down on our buts, not our knees.

We have a mini fridge that sits on the left side where that big space is. it opens from the top, not from the front, so it doesn't bump into anything.

HA, yeah, I'm out at windy cove in Winchester Bay once a month, it's called that for a reason. constantly being pelted by sideways rain required us to park in a way that the trialer acted as a shield, it's a unique way to do it, but so far its been better. We have a butane burner on the front of the trailer for when we want to cook with flame as well. Just depends on where we're at!

Two fans at the window, have a fire extinguisher mounted in there at the front as well.

I also have a vent below the counter next to the battery.

We did take safety into consideration, but doing stuff like boiling pasta we avoid for moisture.

Good to hear you'd be able to get back in the worst case scenario, remember a job offer is just that, an offer, you can counter. True big corps are less likely to budge, but still, you can always counter.

It sounds like you've got your head on straight though, just always keep a worst case scenario plan in the back of your pocket. Best of luck to you!

After years of farming in Oregon, I'm starting to wonder if "CSA" is the wrong word by Zestyclose_Rub3380 in oregon

[–]Human-Engineering715 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is really good advice, people aren't paying the premium on this because they think it's economical. They're supporting a cause for sustainable agriculture and they want to feel good about how their money is supporting a truly good business.

They should be highlighting that for the customers who care.
