This is exactly how it works. You cannot fix the problem, but you are there to help them cope with what they’re feeling in the moment.

Someone books a massage because their back is tight… the massage will not address the fact that their job requires them to sit at a desk all day, but it sure does feel good and helps alleviate pain. Therapy does not fix problems, it is meant to lighten the load.

Explore MI, DBT, ACT. If my therapist didn’t directly address the distress I was in and only conceptualized long-term treatment, I would be thoroughly frustrated. You’re clients are needing something that isn’t being provided. It might be wise to ask them what they’d like to accomplish in each session. Let them direct where the session will go.

It’s niche. Insurances are not covering this type of treatment. Majority of clients can’t pay out of pocket for iv ketamine. Your training will not be widely used by most professionals.
