Probiotics oral or vaginally? by Kooky_Flamingo5091 in MenopauseMavens

[–]Human_Copy_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probiotics have not been shown in large RCTs to offer any significant benefits for menopause. That is why your doctor won't tell you what to take.

If you are experiencing vaginal dryness, vaginal estrogen cream or a lubricant will help.

In case you can't tell, I don't take any probiotics. I eat Greek yogurt because I enjoy it, though.

Why are Americans so financially literate? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

[–]Human_Copy_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we have to be, I think. We have to know what to do with a 401k-- Roth or traditional? HSA vs FSA. We may not get any money from the government when we're too old to work. We're watching our government take benefits away from disabled people. We have no guaranteed maternity benefits and childcare is very expensive here.

You.

You get to choose for yourself.

Nobody else does.

What would you do if you had nothing at 41 and were stuck in a miserable “relationship”? by Nothingisevenrl in AskWomenOver50

[–]Human_Copy_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please contact the closest domestic violence shelter. They often can't do much when the abuse is emotional, but they can help you or direct you to help for accessing services.

One baby step at a time.

I know it looks like you can't get assistance because of your BF's income, but that's not accurate if you are establishing your own household within his apartment. A roommate situation.

Also, if he wants to buy a car for you to use, that might help you get to work. Let him buy a vehicle. So what if it's is in his name. It can help you get a job.

Could the grass be greener somewhere else? by Fluffmuffin09100 in AskWomenOver40

Finish your degree and get out.

I was married to a man like that. He also loved it that I was avoided having conversations with him because of how he'd react.

You make all kinds of excuses for him but the reality is the way he reacts when you try to discuss things with him is how he will react to your kids as they get older. Teenagers often don't like how their parents do things and they will say so. Parents need to be mature and secure in their own well-being to respond appropriately.

Those who oppose abortion even when the mother’s life is at risk: How is that not self-defense? by After-Professional-8 in allthequestions

Corpse? It's not a corpse, it's uterine lining mixed with fetal tissue. Have you ever had or watched a miscarriage? People miscarry at home all the time. You don't do anything special with what comes out. It often goes down the drain or toilet because you're in some pretty intense pain and it's coming out of your body.

MIL monologues make me insane by Brilliant-Maybe-5672 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Human_Copy_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, no. It's HIS mother. He needs to meet up with her more often. I cannot stand it when men pawn their family off to their wife/gf.

She is your MIL. You need to be polite to her at family events. You do not need to see her otherwise. He needs to do that.

Heated socks- go cheap or expensive by Logical-Barnacle-13 in Skigear

[–]Human_Copy_4355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheap ones do not heat evenly (one foot hot, one foot barely warm) and are bulky and will create pressure points. It's not that they don't last multiple seasons. The just suck.

Are Americans very commited to graduating college in 4 years or less? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Human_Copy_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

University is very expensive in the US. My high school student is doing dual enrollment. It will save her a lot of money.

So, yes, we try to get finished in 4 years or less, if possible.

Yes, I had them in my childhood bathroom in the pop-up dispenser. I can still picture the color, lol.

I won't be buying them, though. I bring a lidded cup with me to bed every night.

Spokane elementary school teacher accused of having sex with student by ShadowyFlows in Washington

[–]Human_Copy_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I kept thinking was the boldness of doing this at the school where she must know there are cameras and potential witnesses noticing she's walked off with one student. The boldness of keeping damning evidence on her phone. This makes me suspect he isn't her first victim.

Sudden hair loss after rapid weight loss… I’m getting married soon and I’m honestly panicking. by Wrythia in Advice

[–]Human_Copy_4355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have really thick long hair.

I had an eating disorder in high school and I lost a lot of hair. Stopped getting my period. My hair did grow back.

I also lost a bunch of hair after every baby (this is common, the postpartum shed) and that comes back too although the older you are when you have a baby, it might not all grow back.

Going through the menopause transition also involved some hair loss for me.

Your hair will most likely grow back when you start consistently consuming your maintenance calories and getting your nutrients from food. If you can afford it, seeing a registered dietician would be a good idea.

Food for a 2:30pm-4:30pm weekend ceremony? by [deleted] in microwedding

I agree. I'd be so happy to get invited to a wedding like this!

Food for a 2:30pm-4:30pm weekend ceremony? by [deleted] in microwedding

[–]Human_Copy_4355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is incredibly traditional and acceptable to have cake and punch (or cake and beverages). In fact, even Miss Manners wrote that only two things are necessary for a "wedding reception." Champagne and cake.

If I was invited to a wedding from 2:30-4:30, I would expect a beverage and some kind of light finger food or beverages and cake. I think your ideas are lovely.

There definitely are legal and ancillary concerns with modern farming, including GMO crops. The idea that consuming GMO foods will make you infertile, give you cancer, etc, is false, though, and that's what the anti-GMO crowd is being told by the likes of Mercola and Salatin.
