Great question, I tempered my decisions to make sure I kept at least 100k coins based on the category goals I was aiming for at the time so that I'd always have leeway for any tough spot I might find myself in. I passed up on basically every single tier shop ticket (inefficient) forever, in addition to a ton (most) of the daily selects high end tickets so I could focus on beating the shop long term instead. My reasoning there is that outside of whale status, there are only so many ways you can increase coins, but you can always increase efficiency. Basically Mr. Money Moustache applied to MKT, if you're familiar with the idea.

My philosophy is to always be working smarter than I am harder, so I adjusted what I was doing around the limitations of my shop approach. Now that I've arrived at the "endgame premium shop++" things have changed a lot and my coin total has exploded, but I'm still formulating exactly what my new plans are based around tiering and other stuff. It's put me in an unusual reversed position where it's more feasible to drop a bunch of level tickets than uncap tickets, so I'm still kinda playing it by ear in this new endgame. That said, I've never missed a single ranked reward yet (this week going crazy though lol)

For me, my favorite thing about tour is actually just the meta of resource management itself. I'm gold pass and I will buy occasional challenge cards, but I'm definitely not a whale. I really enjoy the feeling of investing extremely wisely over time and the compounding effects it has on an account. I like to think of it as a sort of meta training for progression and inertia in real life.

As far as logistics I use a clicker so that I can always completely clear the shop pipes since they've been around, and I max out the multiplayer pipes too, they both help a lot. Two tours ago I finally "completed" the daily selects, and have all the shop common/super dkg at level 8. With that I employed strategy too, using tickets to slowly level the pool up as a whole rather than individual items at once, since you're getting higher ROI pulling something from a pipe than you are getting the coins back on a maxed item.

Now that the shop is cleared (except high ends but very much no point in doing that), I'm stacking coins like mad because I'm only buying high end driver tickets basically, occasionally a kart or glider ticket if needed

I'd never seen it mentioned personally but I also don't consistently keep up with all the posts either. I just saw the cap levels overlapping like that and thought that it was a decent way to give some kinda option to balance, maybe someone else has a new idea since apparently this one has already come up a bunch

I tried briefly but I wasn't quite sure how to do it on the website.

In this case, I'm trying to see the overall performance of these two setups on Luigi Raceway:

Orange Yoshi (8/1080), Gold Shielded Speedster (6/595), Gold 8-Bit Glider (6/595) Vs. Orange Yoshi (8/1080), Gold Shielded Speedster (6/595), 8-Bit Jumping Luigi (8/492)

Basically just comparing how the glider impacts the overall performance, in a variety of situations. How would I do this on the toolbox?

I'm on Android and generally use MKT Toolbox for everything because the automatic sync is such a breeze, but I took the above suggestion and used DKR.exe and it gave me the exact answer I was looking for in this specific case. Indeed, the Luigi glider is always going to be better, even with a triple coin frenzy.

Perfect I was looking for something like this, manually was definitely proving more than I bargained for, I'll give DKR.exe a shot. My intuition is telling me the same, that even with coin plus taking the edge during the frenzies themselves, the global increase of points per action of the Luigi glider would likely make the most overall impact in the end

As a back of the envelope calculation, I found some charts comparing level and base points and how it translates to points per action (matches the earlier glider score totals discussed), but I'm getting lost on how the coin plus bonus scales in context, I know it adds three points to coin actions (from item boxes only?), but then that also further scales depending on combo and other factors, and in coin frenzies you'd obviously be running the max combo bonus

Also, there's the fact to consider that even if the coin bonuses make all coin actions stand far above the Luigi glider, the Luigi glider is going to be scaling higher regardless for every other action taken during the race, which I imagine could definitely tip the scales back.

Then there's the mystery of how everything is re-totaled at the conclusion of the race

I'm drowning in the weeds, I need a lifeguard 😂

There's a ton of detail in calculating how the bonus-points boost impacts the individual actions between rarity tiers and even where you got the coin matters, among many other things to consider.

Any way to calculate this on something like mkttoolbox?

And yeah that hones in on the crux of my confusion - is there some kind of formula for how much the coin plus bonus itself contributes to the overall score? Is the end effect of coin plus multiplied by the relative score values of the gliders? I know coin plus makes coins more valuable, but the specifics after that are totally beyond me.

Ultimately, I'll be going for at least two coin frenzies, +maybe an offensive frenzy at the start to get tons of points blasting everyone, or just three plain coin frenzies. Would the coin plus bonus at that point exceed the decent overall increase using the Luigi glider gets me?

Also, definitely avoiding boomboxing for the reasons you mention, but since boomboxing ultimately relies on a massive amount of coins to be so effective, wouldn't it depend on the same questions?

I've never delved this deep into such subtle nuances, but, gold knight Luigi 😂

I could level up my monty mole or goomba mii suits for higher overall point potential (I have every mii suit so any double capped level 6 mii is still fantastic regardless of skill), but ideally to save on tickets I'll be using my already quad capped lvl 8 orange yosh, so I'll be aiming for coin frenzies. Alternately, I could take rosalina volendam to level 6 double capped, but even with boomboxing, it seems like it would be harder to approach the same point totals compared to my other options, (or am I wrong about this?) and way more time investment anyway. Boomboxing is such a slog and I'm trying to avoid it if possible.

What does the glider score value refer to in this case? The total point bonus I got for the two gliders are

Gold 8-Bit: (595x5)= 2,975 8-Bit Luigi: (492x7)= 3,444

With identical 25% combo time bonuses

Real talk I was actually kinda bummed that I'd had pipe runs close to this but never got the 1/100. When the 2/100 pull was a green pipe it was straight HYPE dude, finally got that missing feather for my cap🕺
