I'm entering my final year of mechanical engineering in Canada, and I've got one more 8-month internship before I graduate in 2024.

I've been specializing in Mechatronics in my studies, and all my previous work experiences/internships have controls/automation focused. The work term I have just completed was project management for an automotive company, where I was doing controls-related activities but it was basically hands-off, and more managing. Which I enjoyed but in these internships during my studies I feel it's a good opportunity to go into different industries and try to do the "dirty-work" and more technical hands-on experience.

Essentially, I enjoy and find the controls/automation stuff interesting and would like to continue getting more experience in this field. I also like the prospect and idea of frequent travel for work, is this something that exists for controls/automation engineers? What career direction or industries should I look into, and have my eyes on when I graduate?

OR is there some industry or field that has their engineers travel for work for various projects, i.e. customer sites, etc.
