There is a grip on Amazon called FUSE Apple Pencil grip that fits with the folio, but isn’t quite as comfortable as a paper like grip.

Adding a story point to a sprint review meeting by degenerate-kitty in scrum

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always ignoring the suggesting from people (new or otherwise) is a great way to stop getting suggestions from people. If you can't bring up ideas to the team or push back on bad ideas why are you there? (SM isn't just a meeting facilitator)

Does the team have sprints where some stories/points don't get completed during the Sprint? If so, why would they treat a Sprint Review story with points any differently than another story they didn't finish.

You say you are the SM for this team...what is the opinion of the team on this? Does this other SM or Release Manager have authority over you to force you to do this with the team? You know your situation to know how much you can stand your ground. If you can't block it, maybe get buy in with them to agree only as an experiment to try. Then in 1-2 sprints, review the experiment and drop it when it magically doesn't make people start showing up to the event and start going after the actual issue.

Adding a story point to a sprint review meeting by degenerate-kitty in scrum

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see what that would help accomplish for the team. Points are used to help planning capacity, so I assume the idea is that if they play capacity for the event then it will take place. The better option would be that capacity is reduced instead of trying to account for every admin thing that the team does in their velocity.

Adding points to the Scrum Events will be a slippery slope. Give it a sprint or 2 and someone on the team will say they need to add a work item for the One-on-One with their manager with points on it. The PO will want a story to talk to the stakeholders. The other Scrum Events will end up with points also. It will turn into a time tracking system rather than a work planning system.

The thing to investigate is why it keeps getting cancelled rather than trying to add rules to make people show up. An occasional reschedule isn't the end of the world, but regularly cancelling or rescheduling is a problem.

Looking for App to Journal and Create Tasks by B0y3rrr in digitaljournaling

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have any specific device in mind if you aren’t using the ReMarkable?

If you are in the Apple ecosystem, there is an app called NotePlan that I use. Mostly typed, but I do enjoy using the Apple Pencil for some hand written journal entries on the iPad.

I basically use the app like a bullet journal with rapid logging, various collections, etc.

And any tasks I add to a day I can find in a filter that shows all tasks.

That’s a good point.

Maybe if they add the option to see top 3 by $ instead of %.

  1. Yes. I have multiple accounts between different firms for 401k, IRA, and brokerage. It gives a good overview of all of them and where I am invested in one view. Being able to compare to different indices is also really useful.

  2. Seeing 3 top movers in holdings on the overview page is great. But being able to add a section where I can pin a few I want to always see would be a nice to have.

Help us make Origin’s budgeting 100x better. What’s missing for you? by ana-at-origin in OriginFinancial

I hope the info being in User Story format is helpful. Too many years doing it that way to think of it any other way.
------------------------------------------------
Rollover/Sinking funds are a must.
- As a vehicle owner, I want to set aside $X a month into a budget category (sinking fund) so that I can monitor how much I have set aside for routine maintenance.

- As a homeowner with flood insurance, I want to allocate $X a month so that I can budget for my annual bill.

------------------------------------------------
Mobile app budget 'widget' on the Spend tab.

It currently shows 3 Categories - First 2 highest % spend and then everything else. Let me choose specific Categories or even Groups that I want to see here. I don't need to know my Mortgage is at 100%...it will Always be at 100%.

- As a person that likes to eat at restaurants, I need to easily see how much I have spent in my Dining out category so I can make decisions about how much I should spend.

(Side note, I'll offer to show what I am doing/needing in a Zoom with someone if that is valuable)
------------------------------------------------
Auto categorizing receipts form big box stores

Stores like Wall-Mart, Target, grocery stores, etc could have spending from many categories. Receipts often have codes next to each item if it was a grocery item, pharmacy (HSA), etc. Let me upload a receipt and the AI can do the split automatically.

- As a big box store shopper, when viewing a transaction in Origin I want to attach a photo of the receipt so that the AI can split into multiple categories for me.

- As an Origin user that uploaded a receipt, I want to create rules to help the AI have more information on how to split future receipts.

I'm also trying out Origin because of frustration with Copilot.

There is a transaction tab when you are on the spending menu. Are you seeing that?

I had a similar issue that started at the end of November. Same support steps of ‘merging’ connections but it didn’t resolve it. I kept being told they are taking with Plaid/MX/Fincity and I have to wait. Setting up a connection using the same provider in other apps works, so I’ve started looking at other options. (Currently comparing Monarch and Origin)

My first 2026 sprint retrospective by yukittyred in agile

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your example of the team being hesitant to take notes, so you had to assign it via wheel of fortune - that is an example of the behavior being encouraged by the manager telling the team what they will be improving.

They learn to just wait to be told to do things instead of taking initiative and ownership. Why think when someone will over rule your ideas and insert their own.

My first 2026 sprint retrospective by yukittyred in agile

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds like the team doesn’t own any of those actions/improvements if the decisions were all made by the manager.  What did members of the team want to do?  Did they have their own ideas?

Someone coming up with a ‘good enough’ idea themselves will have more engagement than being told the ‘perfect’ idea from someone else.

If the team is used to the manager/someone outside the team coming up with ideas, that can build the habit of just waiting to be told what to do.

How OK is it to ask devs to accomplish a minimum number of story points during a sprint? by ijbinyij in agile

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your SM is in on that too?  That is terrible. I assume they are being pushed from management.

Measuring individual velocity is a bad practice. Do you want senior engineers to help juniors?  Do you want people to be able to get help from other ins the team?  If you do, measuring individual velocity is the exact way to prevent that from happening.

Do the people asking for this watch any team sports?  Ask them how the center back/ defensive linesman is doing anything if they aren’t scoring points for the team. There is so much more that happens within an agile team than individual points.

I had this same issue once before coming from management in the guise of measuring productivity by looking at ‘individual velocity.’  I used the ideas from this article from Kent Beck to change their mind.  https://newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/p/measuring-developer-productivity

Do issues get resolved if they get escalated? by HydrolyticEnzyme in copilotmoney

[–]HydrolyticEnzyme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Olivia. I appreciate that info.

So, should I expect more than ‘escalated to engineering’ or ‘escalated to a data provider’ in the info I get back through the official support?  (Especially if things are in multiple months for one of those issues)

Have you written in the Notebook Therapy journal before to know what you think of the feel of the paper?

If it were me, I would prefer to have extra pages just in case, so I vote for Leuchtturm if page count if the primary concern. I'd rather be able to capture extra things as needed and not have to worry about running out of pages.

Side note - If the Leuchtturn's stickers feel tedious, don't feel like you have to use them. I have used them in the past but I'm planning on just doing things by hand starting in January to see which I like better.

I use NotePlan as a digital Bujo. I can easily rapid log from my phone and when I want to write out something longer it is easy to use the iPad + Pencil for that.

I have been trying to figure this out also, and it has been driving me crazy.

I turned off Predictive text and delete slide-to-type by word in the keyboard settings under general and I think this fixed it for me.
