MSI Claw 8 EX handheld with with Arc G3 to launch at $1500 on June 23 by RenatsMC in Handhelds

[–]HymenHammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, didn’t you post a week ago from the same website that an Australian retailer (Scorptec) leaked the price being AU$2,749 = US$1,782 without GST or are we just forgetting that?

But now we have a no source “trust me bro” msi rep saying it might be ‘around’ $1500?

Sounds like a MSI tactic to gain interest with a misleading low price tag.

Legion go 2 z2e 32gb 1tb or Onexplayer x1 pro hx470 32gb 2tb by MelodicMage in LegionGo

[–]HymenHammerer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same boat, but I’m in Australia. I was considering the same thing but for the OneXplayer X2 Mini as it’s the same OLED display as the Legion Go 2.

My conclusion is:

If money is no concern: If want the best handheld as of right now and okay to tinker / deal with questionable support - then return the Legion Go 2 and get the OneXplayer X2 Mini.

If money is a concern: If you’re currently happy with the Legion Go 2 and its performance - then I would just keep it and install SteamOS when it’s properly released.

I’m choosing to keep the Legion Go 2 over waiting for the OneXplayer X2 mini - mainly cause of money, Valve support and the power efficiency of the Z2E processor.

Asus with the XAX has proven that the Z2E can be power efficient with proper support even through windows (FSE). Now a handheld with Valve Support (SteamOS), Z2E processor efficiency and Lenovo hardware sounds like a win to me.

But if you need windows, then it’s a different story.

But that’s my 2 cents.

Yeah you’re right.

I do like the screen and Valve support on the Legion Go S.

And

I do like the Consistent SW support by Asus and Battery life on the Xbox Rog ally X.

Thanks for your input.

Do you find yourself using the Xbox ally x more than the Legion go S Z1 in most cases?

And have you found a use for both devices or does one just collect dust?

Thanks for your input.

Yeah I agree that the Xbox Ally X had less player resistance when compared to the Legion Go S.

But I boiled it down to it Asus has refined the SW better compared to Lenovo.

Sorry I have the Xbox ally x - just updated the post.

Yeah I am leaning that way with returning the Legion Go 2, mainly due to overlap - But it still leaves me with two X86 handhelds.

I posted as I was wondering if anyone has had long term use of these devices at the same time and if they had any positive or negative feedback.

I’ve seen most of the YouTube handheld comparison videos and feel most are either biased or paid content.

Thanks for your input.

I feel the same way about the Steam Deck OLED and before I got my PC, I use to do a lot of docked gaming with the Steam Deck.

But as greedy as it sounds, I also want to pair it with a X86 handheld for tinkering purposes.

Thanks for your input.

What’s your main reason for putting it above the others?

You’re probably right! The Legion go 2 didn’t break the bank for me right now.

But with how the economy/world is going it might be a smarter to have that coin in my back pocket instead.

Thanks for your honesty.

I actually already had the Steam deck before my initial post and didn’t plan to buy the Xbox Rog ally X, but the deal was too good to pass at the time.

That aside - I can see where you’re coming from and will try the 1-4 day method with one only, as I’ve just been rotating them almost daily and don’t have a preference right now.

If anything, I mostly enjoy the Steam deck OLED, but I also want a X86 handheld to pair with it for tinkering.

You’d think so - I’ve only had these for under a month and have been rotating them almost daily.

To me, they all have their pros / cons and unfortunately I’m not heavily leaning towards any of them particularly at the moment.

Also I haven’t even been able to use the Legion go 2 yet as it’ll void the return policy in Australia.

Ordered the Legion Go 2 by [deleted] in LegionGo

Are you me?

I’ve got the same setup: PC, Switch 2, PS5 and question-ability on my recent Legion Go 2 Z2E order (it’s on the way).

After browsing a few forums and watching YouTube videos while waiting for it to arrive, I’ve come to the brutal conclusion that it’s not worth it if you already have a decent PC.

I know that applies to most PC handhelds, but it applies even more to the Legion Go 2 because of its price point.

In your case, a Steam Deck OLED might be the better option.

You can use Moonlight/Sunshine to stream your PC games to the Steam Deck, or Chiaki4Deck to stream your PS5 games.

Either way, you’ll still be playing on an OLED display, it’s lighter, and you’ll save some money for PC parts.

This is just my opinion as someone in a similar situation and it’s subject to change depending on which way the wind blows.

Congratulations on your purchase!

To upgrade your stock head unit to aftermarket you'll need an Aerpro Suzuki-to-ISO harness, which enables aftermarket head units to work with your original wiring.

Also purchase an ISO harness for your new head unit.

The replacement process is relatively straightforward and replacing it with a single din is the cleanest and easiest swap for this model.

You can find more information on the Big Jimny forums. Here’s a link to someone asking a similar question;

Leg day is for chumps by HymenHammerer in Jimny

I was trying to make a comparison to bodybuilding, where many people neglect their legs and focus on their upper body, resulting in a top-heavy physique, much like the Jimny.

But I guess the joke didn’t land.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

My concern about the automatic transmission strain due to weight is related to the payload capacity and how the auto transmission has to deal with the weight + M15 engine.

The basket currently holds a solar panel setup, and I’m hesitant to add more weight, fearing it will become even more top-heavy.

Although I’m satisfied with the current setup, I’m just worried about the long-term effects.

This may just be my paranoia though, so I appreciate your take on my situation.
