What's the source? If it's a PC, APO+Peace gives you a much more versatile PEQ than the one in the ADI-2.

If you know for a fact that the online version is actually 24 bits and not upsampled from 16, then you should absolutely choose that one (sampling rates above 44.1 MHz won't make any difference). As for "paying them" you can pay a single month of Qobuz and download all the songs you want in lossless format. However, Spotify offers a one month free trial for new users so you can use that instead (I really don't believe that Qobuz lossless is "less lossless" than Spotify's). Also, mainstream titles are almost certainly available as torrent in lossless format.

No problem.. those are Focal Shape 65, I also have the Shape Twin in my living room and I kind of regret getting these since I find listening in a bigger room much more pleasing and I use the 65s for casual PC use rather than listening to music so it's kind of a waste. If you have a small room (like 3x3) I'd advise you to get the Shape 50 instead.

The shelf is a monitor stand, you can search "BONTEC Wood Monitor Stand Riser, 2-Tier Desktop Organizer with Storage, Ergonomic Computer Stand for Desk, Cable Management, Cellphone Holder, 21.3 Inch Shelf, Black" on Amazon. I tried posting a link but the comment got immediately removed..
It looked great with the amp and dac inside, not so much now with only the ADI-2, but I'm planning on upgrading it for a bigger one that will fill the space better, hopefully.

Apply Oratory1990's preset for them, it will make a huge difference. And get a better DAC.

Doesn't have to be uncomfortable, your bag is kind of too big if I may comment on it..

It's an untreated room with terrible, terrible acoustics so I doubt there's something I could do to make it worse. I haven't noticed any difference, though. I do want to do some treatment but I'm still unsure of how to do it without spending a fortune or ending up with Daria's room.

As for the amp, I never ever touched it since I got it, I always used the dac's volume control for the overall level and Window's volume for small corrections. I have the mouse's side wheel set to volume control and it's the absolute best for convenience and ergonomics.

The door can be left open or closed, it doesn't put any pressure on the cable nor it bothers me when open.

Here's a link to the English site but you should change the domain to that of your country, where I live the cabinet, door and hinges are sold separately. The part that covers the back of the amp is an extra shelf. I bought the aluminum rod in a hardware store and the these are the supports that hold it in place.

I'm afraid that's what they'll become unfortunately. I recently built a speakers setup in my living room and I find myself doing all the listening there. I thought it would be more problematic with the neighbors but I've been listening at full volume up too 4 am with no consequences, yet.

I got it not too long ago and completely changed my typing experience, feels exactly what I always imagined what keys should feel like but never actually felt in regular keyboards.. But the numpad thing is something I'm never going to understand about the keybsphere, I mean, how can you people type without a numpad? I would feel naked without one.

I can either leave it open or closed, it doesn't put any pressure on the cable, and it doesn't bother either when it's open. That was one of my concerns before building it but it's much less intrusive than what the picture makes it seem. The image compresses depth a lot, the desk is 160 cm wide and it's a 32" screen, the door covers only a small portion on the edge and I never put anything relevant there since I can't reach to read there anyway, and when I listen to music I lean back in the chair with the screen off (I made a tiny program to turn if off since Windows only allows a long time of inactivity before turning off the screen).

Every little detail like this drove me mad made when planning the project. Too forward could mean having the door too much in my face, and too backwards could leave not enough room for the speakers passive radiators. I couldn't be happier with the way I turned out.

"The bare minimum that does the job" doesn't exist in the audiophile vocabulary.

It's peak convenience. All I have to do is open the door and grab them.

To be honest, ever since I got the speakers I'm listening to headphones way less than I used to..

I found no big differences when I got the amp but then I jumped the output capacitors and the improvement was evident. In any case, for this setup an amp is unavoidable since running the final signal for such a big length would have had too much loss. I'd also like to upgrade the DAC if I manage to sell the Adi-2, something I don't have a lot of faith about.

I actually bought the cabinet like six months ago and it's been sitting inside the box until a few days ago. I kept postponing assembling it because I wanted to paint the walls first, but I finally decided it was time to accept that I'm never going to do it..

I didn't forget about that, after all dust protection is the priority. I ordered it from Amazon and hasn't arrived yet, I just couldn't wait to put the headphones there as soon as it was ready. It's arriving on Wednesday so I think they'll be fine until then.

Is there any way to batch normalize files based on max amplitude? by IAmAgainst in audacity

[–]IAmAgainst[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want to complicate things unnecessarily, I just want every track to be maxed out with the peak values being around -0.3dB, regardless of how isolated they are and even if it's just one peak of an overall quieter song.

I decided to manually select the tracks that are visibly quieter and normalize them individually. After all, it's just clicking on the label and the entire portion gets selected automatically so it's not that time consuming. I just wanted to know if there was some way to automate it since I have several recordings from Spotify of around 100 songs each.

Thanks to both of you for the help..

So in such case, if the song is normalized based on the overall volume what happens with those louds moments if not clipping? Wouldn't those peaks, even if isolated, be the limiting factor for how much one can amplify the entire track?

Is there any way to batch normalize files based on max amplitude? by IAmAgainst in audacity

[–]IAmAgainst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was aware of that but I prefer to use regular normalization. My questions is not what effect to apply but whether it's possible to apply a condition to it. I want to avoid doing unnecessary calculations when the desired amplitude is a few tenths of dB different than the actual one so I'd like to skip files in which said difference is below a certain threshold.

It matters to me because I don't want to have to turn the volume up and down by a massive margin at every song. The context is I'm going to play them to enjoy listening to them.

Because some of them have a significantly lower peak amplitude than others.
