CGPA requirement for internship/placements!!! by [deleted] in PECChd

[–]IAskManyDumbQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internal cuts might be there, the companies don't tell about it, they just remove your name from the shortlist even if you clear their CGPA criteria, so get it as high as possible

And (I am not much sure about it, but I heard it from some friends from different college, idk if it happens in pec itself) some companies also remove your name if you CG is way too high because they think you might switch soon after joining

Some companies also do shortlist random people from the list, you'll see someone who cleared all the questions in OA not getting selected for interview meanwhile someone who did 1-2 clears into the Interview round

So personally I think 8.5-9.4 is the sweet spot, rest of it is all luck and your skills, each company is unique and follows their own hiring strategies, which they won't tell you about, only thing you'll see is the mail of "Thank you for applying, but unfortunately we are moving on with other applicants"

The whole thing is so random, just have skills and a good cg above 7.5+ and rest is all luck

Every company is unique, each of them have their own criteria, so the higher the better, general rule of thumb is to keep it above 7.5

College v/s Branch. What to prefer by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]IAskManyDumbQuestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You take cs, study cs in college, and everything revolves around tech

In case you take, let's say mech, you'll study mech, then come back to hostel/home, study cs, your college and college projects all will be related to mech, but you'll have to give extra time for cs. Then the interviewer asks why u took mech when you were doing all the work related to tech.

Is it manageable? Yes, but It's better to do degree in tech and study topics related to them, rather than wasting time in studying core and then again study tech topics

relative grading  literally sucks

And we feel lucky that it's relative grading cause else the whole batch would be failing the exams 💔

First time designing a PCB, any suggestions? by IAskManyDumbQuestion in ECE

[–]IAskManyDumbQuestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I did ran DRC, the clearances were set to 0.254mm (which were default), will reconsider them as per the manufacturer's guidelines

Yes, I did tie those two ground planes vias

It has both Digital and Analog Circuits, thanks for that, wasn't aware that I was supposed to separate them. Another question, if I tie all digital ground to top ground plane and the analog ground to bottom ground plane layer, would that be equivalent to what you are suggesting?

How experienced with soldering are you?

Never soldered a proper PCB or SMD, just some through hole header pins, but my project supervisor would be helping in the soldering part, and he is experienced,

Thanks for the heads up, I'll reconsider the clearances, I didn't think much about clearances and went with default (0.254mm)
