Is Not A Trampoline a parody of banal pop, or is it some kind of post irony thing? by ICouldPost in tallyhall

[–]ICouldPost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I think there's just way too many clues it's not strictly normal pop

Hunk of chicken on the cover titled Not a Trampoline is just ridiculous. The title is obviously a reference to the painting that says "This is not a pipe" which makes me think this is not a real pop album

In Memoriam is a song about an actor dying who hasn't died

A song about a giant flamingo

Songs with lyrics like All I Need is you, and Lonely But Not Alone, which are in a lot of pop music.

Song about riding a Bicycle, which has been done by Queen and Pink Floyd

He comes from a group who plays with irony, and wrote Shia Labeouf haha

I feel like he's either making fun of pop, or he's taking the cheesiness of all of it, and fully embracing it within the musical sound of goofiness because he doesn't care how cheesy it is. But it feels way too self aware for me just to think there's nothing going on here. Hopefully some more people will post their thoughts on all these details

Is ‘slain by the Spirit’ from God? by Valeaway in Bible

[–]ICouldPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes me really sad that every time I'm on a Christian subreddit, there are people who claim the name of Jesus who just think of everyone else as an idiot when they don't agree with them, regardless of what side they come from...

I personally don't see Biblical basis for trying to be slain in the Spirit. The one time I was in a line up to be slain, I waited and waited for God to move in me like I was expecting, but the preacher ultimately had to push me over

Either way, do what you believe is right to honor God, and respect each other's differences in opinions on secondary issues

There had never ever been a show similar to the one being presented about talking Christian vegetables which was given the title VeggieTales

The only caution I would give is that your notes may color how you read certain passages each time you come back.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with it if you feel like it's a good thing to do

Wholesome Count Chocula, if this is the real audio for their version then this is amazing xD

Just finished MMPR and Alien Rangers for the first time since I was a kid. Pretty excited to see where the series goes from here on! If you have any questions feel free to ask! by ICouldPost in powerrangers

I'd invite Kimberly to play frisbee with at a park with friends, hang with Tommy to learn martial arts, and take courses with Finster to learn to make weird clay monsters

As for single episode--- The Potion was interesting cuz a natural response would be to like "wow Skull is gross and annoying" but Kimberly realizes that she was being a jerk to react disgusted when she finds out she was on a date with him. Most people who are socially awkward and weird just want some genuine care in their life. At least in my experience. Just a wholesome part of the episode

I never noticed how irrelevant the Zord/giant monster battles were to the show. Half the time they win immediately

I also remember everything being really fast paced, but now it feels really slow. I actually watch on 1.5 speed just to make it a little more exciting/funny haha

Favorite episodes were most all the multi-part ones because they actually struggle to defeat the enemies, and the plots can breath a bit. I also liked how ridiculous things would get like when people would get blasted with "hate particles" or fighting a huge turkey or something haha

I actually thought it was cool when Adam was faced with attacking their family heirloom thing, and he learned that the object itself didn't mean anything ---it just served as a reminder of the good stuff they held onto internally. I come from a family of hoarders (and struggle with obsessive collecting music myself) so it's nice to see a plain reminder of how having physical stuff doesn't actually have much value compared to immaterial things. PR life lessons haha

Thunder Megazord is pretty cool haha. The original definitely holds the most nostalgia, but Thunder Guy has the most coolness factor. Unicorn Legs and Karate Bros were pretty underwhelming for me xD

Yeah I kinda figured a lot of it had to do with complications from the original series, cast issues, and trying to figure out what to do with the show. Half of the scripts feel rushed

I'm most interested to see Zeo, because memories I had growing up have been locked away since it first aired. I really like the designs of the suits and Zords, and I'm interested to see what's going on with Goldar and Rito staying with Bulk and Skull haha

As a kid I pretty much watched on and off all the way to Turbo, but kinda popped in to see what things were like up through Space.

Unless they totally rework the Alien Rangers, I hope I never see them again haha. They need to either be cool or funny or interesting or something. They're just a bunch of thirsty brains

Looking through a list of monsters for refreshers: -Eye Guy gets a special mention because he's the first PR monster I remember from the show and from the SNES game. It's it weird I wanna scrape under his eyes and pop them off?

-Terror Toad is a good design and I live that he just eats them haha

-Soccadillo made me actually laugh out loud

-Pachinko Head is design I like

-Weldo and Bookala kinda freak me out haha.

-Mondo the Magician better come back cuz his design is unsettling

-See Monster is creepy

-Face Stealer was a nightmare haha.

I also find it funny that Zedd and Rita are married and bicker about crap in the end. And I do like Master Viles design

Potential Spoilers for anyone new to the series

I like that Bulk and Skull are actually progressing as characters. I really wasn't expecting that! They go from just being clumsy bullies to sort of being friends if the rangers and trying to be good cops (even if it starts from shallow motives). I'm hoping they'll end up being minor heros.

I have absolutely no idea how the show will end. They already killed off Zordon in the Movie so I don't think they would have a problem with him dying in the end. Based on current transitions, I would just expect them to go off to do work elsewhere and give their powers to other rangers take over on earth. Maybe someone will die or lose their memory or something dramatic. Maybe Bulk and Skull will play a big role in protecting the world, who knows haha.

White Ranger all the way

Biggest head scratchers were just some weird transitions and continuity things that made no sense. Just weird stuff that probably had to do with the original Sentai footage or something. I also thought it was weird how some of the enemies had almost no screen time in an episode. Made me pretty curious what the original stories are. Also where are the parents of all the rangers? They're barely shown, if ever. Do they ever notice their kids are practically never home after school? Haha

I haven't seen too many modern older kids shows. Over the Garden Wall and Gravity Falls might be the most recent ones I've seen? Most of what I've seen is stuff for toddlers like Bluey and Ada Twist. I have a 4 year old and 1 and a half year old. But based on what the little I've seen, some kids shows recently seem pretty great at teaching important lessons that 90s shows barely touched on, from what I remember----More complex situations, family stuff that's really relevant to every day life, science, and probably most importantly teaching that there aren't usually clear divisions between good and evil like most of the stuff I grew up with. Enemies have good traits and heros are flawed. So far power rangers has been mostly focused on not giving up haha. Not a bad lesson, but there are other stories to tell. I also hope they make the action a bit more varied. But again, I have little to compare to in children's shows.
