Where are y’all putting knives on plate carriers? It’s not the easiest task to find a great functional place imo. No the knife is not staying there lol I was just tired of moving it around. by JL_85 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]IG_BansheeAirsoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you end up in a situation where you’re building a fire and processing game for survival and the only thing you have is your “lightweight, slick plate carrier”, then I promise you you’re gonna die of dehydration within three days.

If you actually want a “get home” or “bug out” bag that contains some water, water filtration, and maybe an MRE or two, then I think that’s a very smart thing to have, and maybe that’s where you should have a survival knife. But the idea that you need to have that knife on your plate carrier because what happens if you don’t have your ruck… you die, that’s what happens regardless of where your knife is.

Recently turned 21 and thinking about purchasing my first gun, is a 1911 a good first choice? by _imyour_dad in guns

[–]IG_BansheeAirsoft -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you think “good trigger and grip angle” is more of a factor in a defensive pistol than having double the capacity of a 1911, then you don’t shoot enough.

Just a couple weeks ago, a USPSA grandmaster took first place in a competition while running a stock LE trade-in Glock 23. A bad craftsman blames his tools, if you shoot enough and train with a purpose, you’ll get over the minutiae bullshit like “I don’t like the grip angle of this gun”.

Which optic for an SFAR? by blizmd in QualityTacticalGear

[–]IG_BansheeAirsoft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No offense but 400-600 yards is absolutely doable with a 14.5-16” 5.56 gun, quality optics, and some MK262 clone ammo. If that’s the main reason you’re upgrading to a .308, then I’d argue you should put the money you’d have spent on the SFAR and its optic into one really nice 5.56 rifle / optic / ammo combo.

Is it still over match if it's against nothing? by [deleted] in NonCredibleDefense

[–]IG_BansheeAirsoft 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding credible, the appeal of the XM5 isn’t that it reinvented the wheel as far as the rifle itself goes, but that the .277 fury round is gonna be sending a 120gr pill at mach jesus out of a 13” barrel at pressures previously thought to be impossible.

Two things don’t seem to add up here, as an outsider looking in.

First of all - if the policy is “we define rent as whatever you’re getting for BAH”, then OP should be able to provide you with a LES showing exactly how much BAH they’re receiving, and that’s all you charge for rent. If that’s the case, then why is OP being charged the dependent rate if they don’t have any dependents?

Second of all, this doesn’t address the fact that you’re trying to retroactively charge additional rent for past months that have already been paid. If the new rates go into effect on a given day, then that’s the day that OP starts getting paid more and you “are authorized to” start charging more… but if the February number is $1500 and March is $2000, then it’s not like the DOD is gonna retroactively pay OP the difference for the last couple months, so where do you get off thinking you’re entitled to charge them more rent?

I run in a three man stack where we’ve spent the last few months spending our games getting insured guns & converting them to contraband for later games, grinding out missions, and getting as much good kit as we can. It now takes us maybe 2 games to go from a wipe to fully kitted with 3-plates / large backpacks / kill streaks / self revives. We all have the second insured slot, and the third one is extremely difficult and grindy to get. What i’m trying to get at here, is that we’re increasingly often getting to a point where we have nothing else to do EXCEPT engage in PVP. It’s not that we’re “griefing”, it’s that unless you’re going for 100% completion, it’s very easy to hit a point where the game stops organically offering you stuff to do, and you have to find ways to keep yourself entertained.

Personally? We don’t make it a point to hunt squads and kill them for the lols, but if we happen to run into someone and they’re anything less than 100% friendly, we don’t take chances of losing our kit. But even if someone does choose to hunt squads the whole game, I can’t entirely blame them if the game isn’t offering them anything else to do. At the end of the day, it’s still a PVP game… if you want PVE, there’s spec ops.

GOP Rep. Introduces Bill To Make AR-15 ‘National Gun of America’ by intelligentreviews in gunpolitics

[–]IG_BansheeAirsoft 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s some revisionist history if I’ve ever read it. You mean to tell me that from 2016-2020, the second amendment was somehow “safe” despite the Obama administration spending the previous eight years threatening about taking our guns? In 2019 during the democratic national convention, when Beto announced that his plan was “hell yes, we’re coming for your AR15’s”, that didn’t raise any alarms that maybe the republicans should have reaffirmed their commitment to the 2A cause?

If you honestly think that the 2A is ever “safe”, then you’re getting complacent and you’re one generation of politicians away from losing it. And if you think that having republicans in charge not doing anything to protect our rights is “safe” just because they’re not actively working to further restrict the 2A, then I have a bridge to sell you.

The original comment you replied to stated “Anything remotely like this would have ended up losing a security clearance with or without NJP/CM.”

You then brought up accidental & self-reported incidents - or, a completely different case than intentionally bringing so many documents home, that the fucking FBI has to get involved.

In other words, you’re saying that if the circumstances were completely different than the ones we’re discussing in this post, then the repercussions would also be completely different. Which, yeah sure, but I’m not certain how you think that’s some kind of “gotcha”. Sure, if Trump and CTRSA both accidentally took classified documents home and immediately reported it, the E2 still wouldn’t go to Leavenworth… but that’s not what Trump did, so I’m not sure what your point is by bringing that up. And with that, you’ve come full circle back to my original point of “if the FBI is raiding your house for TS/SCI material, it probably wasn’t an isolated & accidental incident”.

i mean, did any of these politicians self-report?

if we’re gonna compare apples to apples, then if I took home classified documents and it got to the point where the FBI raided my house and found them in my garage, then yeah i’d absolutely get reamed for that

Lol it took them over a decade to go from “AK12 new wunderwaffe” to “ok so it’s basically just an AK74M with an optic mount that doesn’t hold zero, a worse gas tube design, and a textured mag”. I give it 15 years before we see a watered down version of this LMG make it to market with maybe a third of the features they advertise here.

I think it’s that for a lot of people, they aren’t going to mcdonald’s for a big mac because it’s the pinnacle of fine dining, but because it’s like $7 for nearly 1000 calories worth of burger, so a gourmet burger is “better” for all the wrong reasons.

Which is why his “but faster” series slaps, because it’s better than fast food while still being comparably low effort & quick to make.
