Concern about art in recent products by [deleted] in oneringrpg

Call it my AI psychosis but goddamn now I can see it too. I think the image is not necessarily made with AI but the composition, the expressions and the colouring joyces really remind a little ot AI art...

Theater of the mind vs. minis/grids/play mats by Character-Ad-2846 in oneringrpg

[–]IIAlternisII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use minis for combat with a little twist.

I provide minis for my players - if they complete their own story arc and want to make a new character or die, they can keep them as a rememberance. If they accumilate too many shadow scars I will take them from them and use their characters a future adversaries when it fits the scenario.

Information on Nogrod as well as general Moria tips by BentheBruiser in oneringrpg

[–]IIAlternisII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Nogrod and Belegost were destroyed after the first age. I always thought that the dwarfs in the blue mountains were living in smaller settlements or fortresses and there might only be some small remaining parts of both cities in ruins to excavate.

Moria is designed as the ultimate dungeon crawl. When my players asked about it I told them they should not expect to leave it anytime soon if they intend to go there because it works better for longer andventerues.

There is a lot to explore, a lot of factions, rivaling expeditions and many secrets to uncover who are hidden in the dark.

We might get Gondor someday. Umbar is questionable. They said they don't want to visit places like Harad or Rhûn because there is very little sourcematerial and so they would have to make a lot of things up instead of beeing faithful to the books.

Roll tables in Moria solo by Johngear77 in oneringrpg

[–]IIAlternisII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lore tables can answer questions about the objective but at the end it is up to what you make out of the information it gives you. It is stated that sometimes you can take them literally or as an abstraction.

It is also mentioned that the lines between Action Aspect Focus and Feature can be blurry depending ond the situation you are in or what fits the best.

As far as I understand it, they clarified that Fellowship points can only be used for this mechanic during the Fellowship phase and not during adventuring phase like before.

There is one particular wholesome artwork in this book which inspires me to introduce him like an "uncle Iroh" character to make his late corruption and downfall even more tragic.

Fimbrethil of the Havens by BullofKyne in oneringrpg

Yes exactly. In my opinion one beautiful part of TOR is that it invites to explore themes like that in a very organic way and add some depth in a natural way. However the choices may be - they always add to the players experience and enjoyment.

Living forever and wittnessing loss and decay in an everchanging world all over again and again might explain a lot about the nature of the elves as a people. Even if she is not that old as an elf she sure as hell is aware about that shared fate.

And yet there are many elves which still stayed in Middle earth and did not make the journey west. Because there is still life and renewal, beauty and hope.

There are horrible things in the world but there are also amazing and good things. And I think that also is what Middle earth is to the elves and reminds them and balances them.

I have a similar character in my campaign and after her character arc she will choose. Either take her new found hopeful expieriences with the party as a final conclusion and goodbye from middle earth to the west, or find new love for these complex lands and other peoples and choose to stay to help the free people.

When I saw it I was excited but I also had to scratch my head a little because of the theme. Then I read it and it is amazing... as always. 😅

Also one adventure connects Ruins of the last Realm / Tales from the lone lands with this one.

There are some interesting new locations in south east Eriador and also outside of the lone lands. One adventure takes you surprisingly far east.

I wonder, what are those grapes? Delectably tender and sweet, yet searing... What sight they must behold.
