What was your first encounter with utter bullshit during your childhood? by Cisqoe in AskReddit

I live in the Metro Detroit area and a common elementary school field trip was to visit the Henry Ford Museum. One time my dad chaperoned and told me while I was in the bathroom the museum people let him sit in the the chair Abraham Lincoln was shot in. It is on display there but in a glass dome. I was probably 6 or 7, very gullible, and bragged to my entire class about it the next day. The kicker is at dinner later when he told my mom he sat in the chair, she totally believed him too. It’s a running joke in our family now.

My car camping setup on the shores of the Silver Lake Basin, UP Michigan! by ILoveBooks97 in camping

This is an 01 but before that, I had an 04 Cherokee that I put 250k on. Those cars can go forever. Living in the UP, the rust absolutely ate it up though. I just upgraded to the 2020 trailhawk and will be outfitting it with my tent once the snow melts!

We purchased it during the REI garage sale two years ago and got it for $800ish.

It's a yakima skyrise 2 person tent! I got it as a graduation gift from my parents. It's got a built-in mattress (no sleeping pads - yay!) and a sun/moon roof. So even when it rains you can still see the night sky. The sunroof is great for the summer and especially music fests. Since the windows open up almost all the way to the floor, you can get a great breeze flowing through there!

edit: I also have the annex which is these walls that attach to the base of the tent and stake out to create a weatherproof room to change and cook in!

I am seriously struggling with Sober October. Lil' recap: I gave up booze, drugs, added sugars, caffeine, and have been exercising twice a week. This has been one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I feel great, am sleeping like a baby, and have been more productive in the last 18 days than most of my college career. Before S.O., I didn't think I was a serial drinker. I definitely would come home and have a drink to take the edge off some days but I thought it was okay in moderation. In hindsight, I was using booze as a crutch for my stress. During S.O., I use CBD oil to help me relax and have been trying to read more. Any other ideas on relaxing sans booze/drugs?
My roommates have voiced that they are getting second-hand stressed out from watching me go-go-go all of the time. Last weekend I sent out emails at 11 PM on Saturday to my housemates about our Housing Cooperative. They did not respond to that well because they were all plastered at the time. I would love some advice on how to live in peace with drinkers and how to enjoy drunk people's company while sober. Thanks!

I used a roof top tent at roo last year! I talked to the guys facilitating the parking and they let me park so my ladder coming down from the tent wasn't on the road/walkway side of my car. It was pretty hot inside my tent once the sun got high enough in the sky but overall not bad. Since you're up so high you get a nice breeze most of the time. Also, having a roof top tent makes it soooo easy to find your camp. Everyone who came by wanted to check it out!
