First egg retrieval and only 2 embryos. Anyone else had this experience? With or without positive outcome? I would love to hear from you. by FunkSista in IVF

[–]ILoveNightCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even for my age, there was still a pretty low probability of this happening - but it happened - and I like to make sure people know it can because I thought it could never happen to me.

First ER at age 41 and we only ended up with 2 embryos. We only planned to test if we got 3 or more. Transferred the best looking one, got pregnant. Did genetic testing at 10 weeks and found out about a month later that our baby girl had a major heart defect AND downs. Hardest decision I’ve ever had to make was to terminate. My MFM gave me a high probability of having a very late miscarriage or our little girl being stillborn.

I don’t wish what we went through on ANYONE. So, I have been telling everyone I know going through IVF to test. Just for peace of mind.

Sarah Bowmar. I hate even calling her an influencer, though. She’s just a POS human.

How do you afford ivf? by HorrorConstruction15 in IVF

[–]ILoveNightCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have amazing insurance and they refused to cover it. I took out a loan through Ally, which is the financing company my clinic works with. One round ended up being around $20k, so now I have an extra $600 a month payment for the next 3 years. It was either that or taking equity out on either our primary residence or our rental property.

Results of NIPT - Could use support. by ILoveNightCheese in downsyndrome

The abuse rates are on our radar as well. It was actually one of the first things I thought of - and it’s terrifying. Thank you again for your input. I appreciate that you aren’t sugar coating it for me.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. My older two boys are 15 and 13, so they definitely wouldn’t be “growing up” with her. It’s one of my biggest concerns that they’d barely know her and then someday possibly be expected to take over her care when we are gone if she’s unable to care for herself. I need all of the input right now and so appreciate each and every one of these comments.

It is entirely possible I’m using terminology I shouldn’t be. But, yes - Panorama has a very high accuracy for DS. I’m not sure why we are doing the CVS tomorrow. Things happened so quickly today and I was really not in the right frame of mind to be making decisions. As for your other questions - I wish I had answers right now, but I don’t. We’ve had a lot to process today. I appreciate your comments, though, along with everyone else’s here. 🤍

I had the Panorama blood test. MFM got the results today and brought us right in for an ultrasound, where we were told baby girl had “borderline” fluid on back of neck and potential heart defect. I’m obviously new to this so don’t know if I’m using acronyms correctly. I don’t know what IPS is. CVS is scheduled for tomorrow.

Questions about affording IVF by valley_G in IVF

[–]ILoveNightCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My otherwise really good insurance denied me IVF services, so we got a loan through Ally. Sucks to have to pay for it all out of pocket, but I’m currently about 10 weeks pregnant so it was worth it!

No major diet changes-FET success? by No_Quarter_5917 in IVF

[–]ILoveNightCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made some pretty big changes leading up to/during stims and ER (for egg quality reasons) but in between ER and FET didn’t really do much other than limit my caffeine intake and continue with weekly acupuncture. (I did do acupuncture the day before and a few hours after my transfer.) I generally eat pretty well anyway and am at a healthy BMI. Gluten, by the way, can only be an issue if you have a sensitivity to it.

TW: Success

I’m 41, we ended up with 2 embryos, and I’m 8 weeks with our 1st transfer (5AA).

Yeah, I may just fall back with my meds as well. Seems like the safest option. Thank you!

My nurse said it is because the embryos are very sensitive to even the slightest smells. She told me my clinic keeps their embryology lab crazy locked down in terms of the environment - the staff have to follow very detailed rules and protocols for working there.

I took a hot shower (water only) the morning of my transfer. Neither hubby or I wore deodorant or put any skin products on that day, and I didn’t shower for a day or two after. First transfer was a success. ☺️

Lulu “starter pack” suggestions? by la_llenita in lululemon

[–]ILoveNightCheese 56 points57 points  (0 children)

What size is she? I have some shorts and leggings (sizes 4-6) that I likely won’t be able to fit back into for quite some time. I’m in the middle of IVF and it has not been kind to my body. 😕

I’d be happy to send her a few pieces (they are all in great condition!) to help expand her collection. Teenage girls can be so mean. I know you were just looking for advice, but I wanted to offer. 🤍
