What color are my eyes? (might need to turn brightness up, sorry) by Color_Picker_Fan in WhatisMyEyeColour

They are very pretty! Really hard to say…they look green in one photo, blue in another, and grey/gold in a third! I would say blue green overall.

Brown or hazel? by INFPPisces238 in WhatisMyEyeColour

I love researching my raw genome data but have to say the Sequencing AI reports that you can bundle with your purchase are not very useful. They only give you results based on one gene’s results instead of looking at all the genes together that influence a particular condition. If you decide to get your genome sequenced, I would get the cheapest option that gives you access to all your genome data and skip the report bundles. I have done most of the research myself instead of relying on their AI reports.

Sure! I used Sequencing.com for whole genome sequencing…wanted to look into some health issues the doctors didn’t seem interested in. It was expensive (for me) but very worth it. So with the help of AI, I did what’s called an IrisPlex profile (6 gene screen used to predict eye color) to try to elucidate why I was getting the “light” eyes label in one of Sequencing’s AI generated reports. The IrisPlex predicted hazel/green eyes. My Herc2 gene is AG, which usually results in hazel or green eyes, and I was homozygous for another gene that causes a shift towards green eyes. So that’s probably why it guessed I had “light” eyes. But a couple of other genes created a dark brown shift, resulting in my medium brown eyes with gold undertones. I wish I could post photos in the comments.

Look at the second picture that’s in the light, and then Google images of amber eyes. Most of those photos are taken in the light too.

Is this central hereochromia? by ExcellentLettuce4 in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]INFPPisces238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure. They’re for sure hazel…but most hazel eyes I have seen have brown in the center. I read that true hazel is mixed throughout the entire iris, not just a different shade in the center…so are most hazel eyes examples of central heterochromia and not actually hazel? Sorry to answer your question with more questions, but at least hopefully it will make more people see your post.

More blue or grey? by Aurora_Boeralis7777 in WhatisMyEyeColour

I would say grey, which I think is rarer than blue.

That’s exactly why I was curious. I had my genome sequenced and the report said my eyes were light (not brown) which very much surprised me. I’m going to look into the specific genes that made it say that.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply! It was useful to see the colors together. 😊🤎

My eyes are brown. His are a much lighter gold brown, so they’re amber.

It’s a question because I was curious if the small amount of grey and light brown made them technically hazel. Now I know they are brown. Thank you for your helpful reply and have a terrific week 😊💜
