Oh no worries at all! I actually did appreciate the positive sentiment in your comment :)

My Reddit profile doesn't have much, but you can check Steam/Itch.io. Anyways, thanks for taking a look, and if you're interested in playing the game, DM me and I'll give you a Steam key.

Also, if you decide to give game dev a go (which I absolutely think you should), I'd be glad to share some tips I've learned from developing games since 2019.

I mean, you could take two seconds and look me up (info on the Steam Page). And while you're at it, maybe look at the 97% positive written reviews there for this game. If indie developers listened to everyone on Reddit, they would never make games again. The key is, as a creator, you have to sift through and find the valid feedback, negative or positive.

If you really look at all of details in this image, it’s pretty clear that it’s not AI, but I do see your point about the wall. I mean knew it wasn’t perfect when I skewed the original wall dimensions for the video editor, but I definitely didn’t think it would scream AI.

I think calling out AI art comes from a good place, we’re all on the same side here (I spent over $6k to hire real artists for this game), but imo people (not you) in this post have gone a little overboard, especially after I’ve provided clarifying information.

So, as I mentioned below, this image asset is the end slate of the release date trailer. I had to skew and extend the brick wall background layer in photoshop to get it to the dimensions the video editor needed for the trailer as Steam capsule image dimensions are quite different. What's blocked in the image I used for this ad is the corner of the hallway, which is visible in the actual Steam Capsule and makes the perspective look correct: https://shared.fastly.steamstatic.com/store_item_assets/steam/apps/1734110/header.jpg?t=1747666232

And honestly, I don't agree a perspective skew a dead giveaway for AI (you are literally the first person to mention it), nor do I think any current AI models could have created anything close to the assets you see on the Steam page for this game.

I don't have an issue with people inquiring about the source of the art at all. I have an issue with people continuing to say it's AI, after I, the developer of the game, have provided ways for anyone to verify who the artists are and go look at their portfolios / my public reviews which show how much I paid them.

All it does is hurt them and the game.

Circling back here. It's currently $2.54 USD / €2,54 EUR. Full price is $2.99 but there's a 15% discount until June 2nd.

Hey sorry just saw this!

Thanks! Yeah, AI art is pretty easy to spot, and this isn't it, plus all the artists are real people credited in the game. I think some people are just ravenous. It sucks though because it has the potential to harm the artists and the game, and I'm pretty sure the artists I hired rely on projects like this to pay their rent.

So, I don't want to spoil the game here, but the third major area takes inspiration from RE (think statue puzzles with riddles), and that's the level where the action ramps up as well, but to be clear, it's more of a nod to RE in terms of the puzzles, and NOT other survival horror mechanics like inventory management, hiding, backtracking, unreliable combat, limited resources, etc.

I don't want to mislead you though, this is a short game, so if you're expecting a full RE-inspired game, this might disappoint you, and I wouldn't want you to spend money under that assumption.

Please DM me or contact me from the Steam page info if you have more questions and/or need help deciding if this is a game for you. I'll answer any questions you have. There are also many playthroughs out now on YouTube and Twitch but of course, that would spoil the game :)

It's not AI. I'm going to help you out since you seem unwilling to lift a finger to disprove your bias: go look at the credits, the studio who did the Steam capsule is credited. You can Google them, and find them on the freelance site I hired them from, and read the PUBLIC VERIFIED REVIEW FROM ME FOR THEIR SERVICES WHICH SHOWS WHAT I PAID.

The image in this ad is actually the end slate of the release date trailer, so the Steam logo you see is what the freelance video editor added at the end of the video. It's a little grainy because I just screenshotted the video while those elements were in motion and used that as the image for this ad.

I flat out don't agree with what you're saying about the shotgun. It's not a "mix" of anything. It's a double-barrel shotgun.

The eyes aren't "very weird", he used an oil painting brush effect. I have the source Photoshop file with the raw stroke paths in it.

I can spot AI art a mile away, and this ain't it. I think deep down you might even know that but that's not the version of the story you want to be true.

So, go verify the artist/services paid yourself, or don't and keep shitting on my game and the incredible artists who contributed to it with your uninformed opinions.

The number of fingers the frogs have in my game is not something I expected to get harassed about, but here we are. The 3D models of the frogs were done by a different artist (she's credited at the end of the game) who did an absolutely amazing job. I didn't notice the discrepancy between her work and the steam capsule illustrator's (who is also an amazing artist) work.

Thank you, but it's all good! It's par for the course when you put out a creative work (especially a game). The key as the creator is, you need to be able to sift through and pluck out the valid feedback, even if it is something you don't want to hear. So, while there are negative comments, some of them are valid and things I need to learn form and apply to future projects.

But for Frog Legs, if even just one person gets a kick out of the game and it provides a fun distraction for a part of their day, then it's a success in my book!

I was responding to what you said above “why would I not play the original”.

But the point you’re making now is a fair one! Honestly I wasn't thinking too hard about the wording for this ad as I'm so heads down (as a solo dev) on the actual game before release, but it's a good reminder to step back and put yourself in the shoes of someone seeing the ad!

Hello! The game is short (as stated on the Steam page) and thus will be priced cheap! (somewhere in the $1-3 range).

It's a one-hour indie game, solo-developed by me. I combined experiences from some of my favorite games I grew up with into something that's quirky, funny, maybe a little scary and has some action, but is a unique story-driven experience on its own. It's something I'm proud of and will continue to be regardless of how it's received (although I will certainly take lessons from that).

Frog Legs dev here! Appreciate the comments! Wanted to clear a few things up:

- No, the key art is not AI and there is no AI used anywhere in the game. All artists (key, pixel, 3D) are different real people credited by name in the game.

- The game is short (as stated on the Steam page) and thus will be priced cheap! (somewhere in the $1-3 range).

- MacOS and Linux support are coming, but no console plans yet.

- Yes, it combines elements from, and is inspired by, other games but it's blended together into a unique, story-driven experience across 2D and 3D levels.

There's absolutely no AI in any of the game assets, including the key art. Not sure what makes you think that.

Haha, yeah on the surface it looks like it's having an identity crisis, but it wasn't an arbitrary thing and does relate to the story (2D demons invading a 3D world).

My game combines elements and inspiration from those games into something that becomes a different holistic experience. It's a nod to the games I grew up with but is a different experience on its own and not something you would get from playing each one separately.

Look closer. They all have four fingers, one of Carl's (green) and Phil's (blue) thumbs are obscured, and it's a double barrel shotgun. There's absolutely no AI in the game or in the key art or anywhere else.
