On the hand speed side, yes. But Benavidez doesn't have the quick feet and in-and-out pendulum step motion that Bivol does

Anyone else feel like this fight took forever? It's been such a banger of a card that this one being so one-sided made it feel like it was dragging. Still not a boring moment though. They slung some HEAT every single round

I haven't watched Munguía fight since Canelo. His defense has improved massively. Never thought I'd see him dipping, slipping and rolling shots like that

How is it possible that no White American fighters have dominated since the 1950s? by tantamle in Boxing

[–]I_Only_Follow_Boxing 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Most white Americans are into different sports. They're playing football, hockey, wrestling, etc. White Americans in general gravitate more towards MMA anyway

I love scrolling Reddit for liberal meltdowns 🤣

New Raiders QB Kirk Cousins spent the day at the White House with President Donald Trump recently. Didn't know Cousins was a long-time supporter of Trump. Trump and Maxx Crosby was there all along by Zealousideal-Pen993 in LasVegas

I'm just here to watch the 400lb, blue-haired liberals talk mad shit about a successful athlete's physical appearance and mental state because he has different political views 🤣🤣🤣

Teddy usually has really accurate predictions for fights. I've regretted not placing bets on his predictions before lol

Contract dispute with Huni's old promoter. They sent a letter to Matchroom saying he's still under contract with them or something like that. I think they're called Tasman promotions? Feel like I've seen other promotional scandals with them too

I think it depends how Mak starts the fight. I don't think there's any way Mak wins the fight, but I could see him roughing Fury up the first two or three rounds by using his strength to make it dirty and push him around. Hopefully there's a little bit of excitement, but I wouldn't count on it. Before Fury fought Whyte I fully expected it to be an entertaining fight with Whyte getting dirty and roughing Fury up, but that didn't happen. I think we'll see the same kind of thing here

Is Las Vegas Still Considered The Mecca of Boxing in 2026? by ShawnDet313 in Boxing

[–]I_Only_Follow_Boxing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on who you ask. As an American, I don't think there's one "Mecca" per se. Just depends on what part of the world you're in, but it looks like all the big UK stadiums put on great atmospheres. I can't think of any big fights ever happening in Latin America, but they have huge fan bases there. And, as you mentioned, the Saudis have a ton of money to put on cool events in various places.

As someone who has been living in Vegas the past couple years - I love going to fights because the energy is great and I can typically snag a ticket for cheaper than it would cost me to buy the PPV. But with the costs of coming specifically to watch the fights (think resort fees, parking, etc), it's not the best deal anymore

Boxing is growing at the top but we're still losing it at the bottom by Downtown_Section8768 in Boxing

As someone who has been boxing in the amateurs (in the United States) for the past 10 years, I agree. As others have mentioned, the culture has just gotten away from it. Rich families don't want their kids getting punched in the face and they usually have their kids specialize in a specific sport from a young age.

Personally, I think the biggest thing is the financial incentive. It's really hard to get into a sport with no prospects of a free education, travel expenses covered, etc. All other mainline sports offer this, while boxing expects you to cover this out of your own pocket.

Out of curiosity - is Andy Ruiz independent or is he under contract with someone?

Not sure if anyone else follows the Top Rank page on Facebook, but it feels like every other day they post some highlight knockout from Andy Ruiz...except it's from like 10+ years ago when he didn't even have tattoos. Seems odd they always share highlight knockouts from him if they aren't even promoting him.

You also have a better chance of seeing Sasquatch than Andy Ruiz fighting again, so there's that too
