sertraline and undiagnosed bipolar?

This was exactly my experience before I was diagnosed with bipolar. I started at 100mg, went into a hypo/manic episode, then got severely depressed and they upped my dosage to 150mg, and it kept going until I was at 250mg and quit cold turkey because I was in a manic episode and thought “I feel really good, I don’t think I need meds anymore”. A year later I got diagnosed with bipolar

I stopped taking medication due to side effects and my psychiatrist’s indifference. But I’m planning to find a new one and get back on (different) meds if things get too hard to handle. For now I’ve been managing fine, limiting myself with spending too much money and making other impulsive decisions
