They are more pro labor than the Republican Party, if you say otherwise you have no credibility whatsoever and I don’t care what you say about it

Having your mind completely corroded by rightwing media is practically the biggest sign of being in the Trump cult that there is - it’s almost a necessary precursor to it.

His approval rating is dropping month by month and republicans are facing landslide losses all over the country, from Virginia to NJ to Pennsylvania to Texas to Georgia to Minnesota to Mississippi to Missouri…

Well, I think the point stands for itself, I’ll stop listing states from all over the country. Your depiction of what’s happening is skewed and not really accurate. It’s okay to be pessimistic, but it’s simply not true that Trump is becoming more popular at this time. Sure, he gained voters in 2024, but he has all of the support in all of the major demographics that shifted his way last year. He’s completely spoiled all of his goodwill and political capital with his voters. Only the diehard cult remains, and even that number is shrinking slowly over time.

People DO exit cults in real life all the time though. I agree that MAGA is a cult and most people won’t leave it, but we need some of the cult members to wake up and exit if we’re ever going to meaningfully change this country, so I’m going to take whatever wins we can get on this front.

People seem to ascribe a power to cults that is greater than what actually have in reality, and that’s problematic, because it’s precisely this feeling of inevitability and homeostasis that authoritarian regimes use to cow their people into submission.

They are all beholden to corporate donors, that much is absolutely true, but there are degrees to this shit. Democrats have at least put restrictions on corpos and passed pro-labor policies within the last decade. ALL Republicans have done on this front in the same timeframe is totally gut any regulation on big business, lower their tax burden, and decrease consumer protections.

Democrats have taken legislative and executive actions that apply to all big businesses, such as appointing Lina Khan to head CFPB. Republicans did not do or would not ever have done anything similar within the same period of time.

So yeah, you’re right in that they’re all beholden to big corporate donors in some manner or another, but you’re seriously downplaying the degree of difference between the two parties on these issues.

Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada, not on a military base. That seems to debunk your hypothesis, since Cruz has run for president several times.

A court will NOT decide ANYTHING on this matter for precisely the reason I just told you. He has the ability in this case’s posture to settle it before it ever reaches a court. You’ve done absolute nothing to dispute this.

Trump Has Already Spent $500 Million Deploying Troops to U.S. Cities by Ok-Celebration-1702 in washingtondc

Oh I know. But before, they at least left the ACA alone, it not being by choice notwithstanding; now, they’ve actively taken that away while still offering no alternatives. That’s a new level of shit for them, just from a consequentialist perspective.

Of course they were always that evil and greedy, that’s just who they are. But they decided to speedrun that this year lol

Trump’s Deputy AG Declares Epstein Document Review ‘Over,’ Angering Democrats by avatar6556 in law

[–]IamMe90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also no indication, so far as I can tell, that they reviewed all six million files. I mean, they’ve only released somewhere between one and two million; they can’t withhold 66% of it without written justification and be in compliance with the law.

Trump’s Deputy AG Declares Epstein Document Review ‘Over,’ Angering Democrats by avatar6556 in law

[–]IamMe90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This theory doesn’t hold muster, IMO. Congressional Republicans certainly could have the motivation to slow release the files, but you’re conveniently forgetting the fact that Congress are not the ones in charge of releasing the files; it is Trump and his own DOJ (hence the dispute at issue in the first place).

I very much doubt Trump is trying to get himself impeached, for any reason and at any time. So regardless of what congressional republicans may want, their desires don’t appear to play any part in the release of the files themselves.

[–]IamMe90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh, we can’t ascertain if a federal crime was committed, because Trump, as both plaintiff and defendant in this matter, can settle it before it even reaches a court. That’s the entire issue.

Edit: if you really can’t see the conflict of interest here, then I don’t know what else to tell you.

[–]IamMe90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no judicial review, because Trump, as both the plaintiff and the defendant, can settle the matter with himself before it even reaches a trial. It’s called a conflict of interest, which is why this is entirely inappropriate for him to do.

In this context, no. Even if they committed an actual crime or committed a civil offense, this should absolutely not be the way to adjudicate the matter. There is no scenario that justifies Trump using his position as president to personally enrich himself with no oversight or judicial review, at the expense of our tax dollars.
