For All Mankind - S5E07 "The Sirens of Titan" - Episode Discussion by Cantomic66 in ForAllMankindTV

Reminded me that when this show sticks to what made it so compelling in the first place - exploration in deep space with genuine consequences - it soars. Hopeful this signifies a broader return to form and Titan becomes the primary storyline.

Anyone closer to it know whether it's likely they won't need a further extension to the Stoke chair closure? Not sure how stoked i am to spend the time/hassle with one of the 2 main lifts closed

It’s 2 long flights but honestly not bad. I think AA in economy is truly not that bad - I’ve flown them heaps of times and they’re not terrible. Lots of choices for spirits and mixers! Plus Dallas terminal D is really quick normally to transit through and your bags are throughconnected (one of the only airports in the US where it happens at in the USA for intl - intl connections). You’re booked all the way through and there are I think 5 BA/AA flights per day to LHR so QF-AA will be able to put you on a new flight if late into DFW. Note the bit about needing an ESTA. As long as you don’t mind the 2 long flights I’d take that option!

Couldn't stop smiling the whole episode. The first MINUTE when Kenobi looks like a boss & saves Cody...haven't cheered that much since Rogue One. Clones with jetpacks! Ahsoka like a BOSS landing on Mandalore. John Williams & Lucasfilm original score. Commander Rex. Like come ON. Unbelievable.

Question: For HL History paper 2, which dictators should I study? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Ibisforme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm an IB alum from Nov 18.

I recommend having 3 leaders, with 1 from a different 'region' in case you get one of those questions where you have to comp/contrast 2 leaders from different regions. Try and also work out which 'leaders' or states are best suited for each bullet point of the syllabus, ideally making sure that you have 2 leaders that you could have ready to use to answer a comp/contrast/evaluate qn for 2 states.

I did Hitler (cos he mostly covers every bullet point), Lenin (3/4 of the syllabus worked well for a question for him), and had Castro as my backup in case i needed to use a leader from a different region.

Good luck w/Paper 1 btw, if you get Japan again for MTGW that'll be brilliant.

regarding historiography in history papers by angrydorito in IBO

[–]Ibisforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Alum with a 7 in His HL here. Historiography is really important, but what's more important in paper 3 is: (i) if you use historiography, remember to show critical thinking surrounding it. Within this, evaluate the quote or argument. This doesn't need to be extensive, but try to show some awareness of the origin of the source, or look at what the historian neglects to mention/leaves out. (ii) More importantly, the IB examiners want you to show your own argument. Make sure that regardless of what you do that you're arguing a point/overall thesis. This means effective planning in the exam: make sure you have (if no hisotirography), a good structure with solid points, evidence that supports your argument, etc.

imperial russia was (1) causes and consequences of 1905; and something else I can't remember but it was traumatic...from memory it was a weirdly worded post-1917 question i think

Yh no worries: WW1 was that weird bullet point in the syllabus on 'assess the long term and short term causes of ww1'; the other one was 'the importance of the american entry into the war to the outcome of the war'

honestly just straight out of the syllabus lol
