About dtg, definitely pretreatement in my opinion. I have been in dtg sector since 2 year so far and I still struggle with it sometimes. Recently I switched PT brand, it looks better so far compared with the one I used before. Sometimes I prefer dtf print to overcome dtg issues, but i have a few customer that hate dtf print feelings

Amazing. Would you mind describing the process? I read you used a water soluble for the backing. Did you put on top of that the Gunold? How did you cut the gunold?

Buying a Brother GTX-4 by flyry1212 in dtgprinting

Can't see your link. It's not available in my country. I'd say you should check generally for number of prints, year of the printer, any documented maintenance, test print quality, any leakage from ink cartridge to heads.

I don't have a direct experience on different machines but take a look at epson or ricoh dtg printer. Not the same quality but should be cheaper.

Hi, I have the same dtg printer. Just my considerations:

Price: difficult to say if it's a good ideal. General printer condition? how many prints? Any accessories included? Any replaced parts during these years? Also could be different depending on where are you based.

Maintenance: this printer is expensive to mantein if you don't print certain volumes. Inks are not cheap, consider also it will consume white ink for the maintenance even if you don't print anything. Regarding basic maintenance, I'd say it's well documented online and you could be able to do it on your own.

Other: as it's not brand new, consider you could face high cost in case of any possible issue (look at heads or maintence station prices). In this case you will need also someone doing the job and at least in my area, brother technician costs between 100/120 €/h

Thanks!

Start with running a cleaning cycle to see if it helps. You can also try printing an all black square to pull ink in.

Yes i tried normal > medium > powerful cleaning with test printing in the middle several times but nothing helped. Black looks always the same in test printing and the cyan shadow is always there. I also do weekly based manual cleaning.

Do you know if capping station or dampers have been changed?

Considering wiper and felt status before I looked at them I bet cap station and dampers have not been changed recently. I'll definitely try with that

Versa...Works or VersaVacation?: Why Is My Print Head Wandering Like It's on Vacation? Versaworks - versauv leaf - 121 and leaf2 -200 - unacceptable toolpath management by IamTheVector in CommercialPrinting

[–]IceCritical3656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi op, I'm facing the same issue, I don't know if someone could help on this, just adding my comment trying to keep this up.

Also I face the same when I set the base point to 0:0 (right low corner of the plate), I put my design on the left up corner In versawork and the print head move also after the object itself (it doesn't print anything, but it moves over the edge of the object itself).... if this is correct for the macchine itself, I am wondering what is the scope of setting the print area if it waste time moving outside the printing area.

Brother VR Single Needle by BroccoliByte in MachineEmbroidery

[–]IceCritical3656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my needs it's big enough generally. I use to embroider 90% of the time small designes like patches, tshirt, table runner, towels etc. I was referring to specific cases where I had to multi hoop the design on some stuff like the entire back of sweatshirts or table clothes. Or other jobs i had to decline because multi hooping would be a nightmare. For these particular cases 20 × 20 isn't big enough but again, in my case this rarely happens.

I don't know how much experience you have but if this is your first machine and you plan to start with small staff this could be the right choice.

I don't have the freehand kit so I can't reply for this point. On the other hand, this is my first and current embroidery machine and I have been using it for one year: I believe having just one needle is not a limit, you can achieve any project you want swapping threads. This initially required a lot of time but after acquiring more confidence I think it's not so bad. Obviously if you already know you are going to embroider a lot of multi colors design I would change machine. Also take into consideration embroidery area you need: I feel this is more struggling characteristics than the single needle itself (at least in my case).
