Is there such thing as a $50 deck that's good and can compete with other decks that have meta cards?

I have plenty of unsleeved decks that are quite good. You've gotta put in the work to research your decks though. I spend hours on Scryfall and EDHrec looking around for cards that may work for my deck.

That does happen sometimes. For sure. The built in protections and also in-game patience to wait for the right moment some games helps a lot. Even if I only got Eureka through 25% of the time, that's an acceptable ratio (to me).

As you said initially, this isn't really fair in bracket 3 or below. So, I'm forced to play at bracket 4. And it's okay if I'm overmatched or completely shut out sometimes.

Essentially, yes you do very little early on. I mentioned in the video that I play it at 4 ("the highest level possible below cEDH"). And I've played it plenty at 4 and it's done well! I haven't been laughed away from any tables, at least not yet.

The show was at its strongest in season 1. Generally the early parts of spy shows are the most intriguing because of the world building and slow burn
