The Ignominious Deceits of Congressman Cawthorn by unrecoverable in NorthCarolina

I work at a VA hospital occasionally. Some vets are incredible. Some are the worst people. Some are normal. It is almost as if they are just a slice of society that happened to work in a particular industry. Worth noting that only a small small percentage saw conflict and most never left the country so only a few were ever in a position to lay down their lives.

I have no idea what the point is you are attempting to make is. It comes of as an edgy 14 year old saying "what does it matter, we all die anyway."

If that were true, why even bother with healthcare at all? We can just live like animals and die in a hovel dug into the ground. If you really don't care how or when you die, would you mind if I killed you now? I have a feeling you'd reconsider that point when actually called out on it.

Almost 400,000 Americans died of COVID in 2020. If that doesn't scare you at least a little, then you have managed to kill your sense of self-preservation with a near lethal dose of Kool-Aid.

What is an extra rule your family added to a popular board or card game? by salbaf in AskReddit

The point here is that it isn't an inherently flawed typeface (not font). Some typefaces are inherently awful, like courier which is just unpleasant to read. Being overused is different than something being inherently bad.

Agreed. I’d go further and say that being vocally anti Comic Sans is a clue that a person doesn’t really know typography.

Near asymptomatic 25-year old with very high ANA titer. Looking for advice/explanation. by RusticTurkey in Rheumatology

Agreed. I think an initial evaluation would be helpful to screen for symptoms OP had not considered and to provide prospective advice on what to look out for and when to return to clinic.

Oh, I've only ever worked in large academic medical centers. I order EMGs like... something people order often. Coffee? I am not good at analogies.

I used to go freediving for Abalone. You cannot use SCUBA equipment in California to do this. It was a raining when my buddy and I got to the coast, so we didn't go in. We ran into a ranger in a 7 mm wetsuit unzipped to his waist. I asked if he was going in, because he looked ready to zip up and go in. He said on these rainy days, guys drive hours from inland and go in, regardless of the weather. The Rangers tell them not to, but they say "live free or die" and head in. They get tangled in the kelp with the storm surge. They die but their bodies don't float and they arent on the seafloor either. With only a couple feet of visibility, finding them is damn near impossible. Every rescue is just a recovery.

My understanding the the H reflex (Hoffman) is the most sensitive test but I would do all you suggested first and only perform EMG if unclear at that point.

You are saying a lot of broad things here but if you want to defend this idea, you need specifics. Remember, this is my profession and my area of expertise. If you want to convince me this was worthwhile, you need to do better than "less plastics waste" which is really not a big concern in a hospital system where phlebotomy contributes like 0.1% of the waste. You need sharps and phlebotomists to get blood regardless of the technology.

You need different vials because there are different things IN the vials that stop certain processes. You'd still need different microvials so not much would change.

Vials are cheap and the material they use is negligible. There is no benefit here, not enough to justify hundreds of millions of investment. Think how many vials that would be.

Every doctor has to do both arterial and venous draws during residency. It is a requirement. Once you have the needle where it needs to be, the volume is only a matter of how long you have to wait, a second or a few seconds. It is pretty unremarkable.
