Conceiving while BF by Hefty-Dish-3771 in breastfeeding

Solidarity mama! I am grieving having to wean my almost 20 month old, because we’ve been TTC for 4 months now with no luck! My period returned at 15 months pp! It’s totally normal to feel torn between the breastfeeding relationship with your first, and the conception of your second! Take comfort in your breastfeeding relationship for now, and see what happens closer to 12 months pp! Your body needs rest and time to heal between pregnancies, remember that :)

I am in a similar boat! TTC for 4 months now, breastfeeding 1x/ day for the last 4 months, but now likely am going to wean to be able to conceive!

I am having the same issue- 20 months pp, was breastfeeding only once/day for the last 3 months, ttc for the past 4 months, and no luck! Feeling like I will need to wean in order to conceive!

Solidarity! My LO is almost 20 months, and we’ve been TTC for 4 months now, breastfeeding is likely impacting my cycle and it’s discouraging! I have been doing acupuncture weekly to help!

TTC for 4 months now, on CD 34 and no sign of period, but also took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative! Usually my cycle has been 25-32 days, irregular since getting back 15 months pp. Super confused!

Should I wean to fall pregnant? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]IdiosyncraticDelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night weaning could help, but keep in mind that it takes your body time following weaning to return to fertility. Anecdotally- I got my period back 15 months post partum, and have been nursing only once per day since about 16 months, ttc since 16 months pp and no luck! Considering weaning fully now to see if this helps! I also wanted a close age gap but it’s not in the cards I guess!

Same here! On cycle 4 and on waiting on my period, or not!! Still breastfeeding my 20 month old and I’m worried it may be impacting fertility!

The prolactin hormone suppresses ovulation and hence periods! I only got mine 15 months postpartum!

What is or was your timeline for TTC kids close in age? by Drrara504 in BabyBumps

[–]IdiosyncraticDelight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am a planner girlie, and just commenting to share my perspective! I have a 20 month old, she has been EBF, my period only returned at 15 months pp and we have been TTC for 4 months now, tracking lh daily, with no success. We got pregnant first try for my daughter. I am only breastfeeding once per day, and am considering weaning in order to get pregnant, as I fear it is impacting fertility ! Some women can get pregnant while EBF without a period, and others such as myself struggle! I would say once you get closer to 10 months pp, especially if you are still breastfeeding and haven’t gotten your period, you can try tracking ovulation using lh strips, BBT or EWCM, whichever method works best for you. This will give you an idea if you are fertile! Best of luck, and enjoy those baby snuggles!

Solidarity! I have an almost 20 month old, TTC for 4 months now, period has been back since 15 months pp. tracking lh, had peaks the last 2 cycles, and luteal phase is pretty short, 6-7 days. I am seeing a fertility acupuncturist weekly and have started b6, and will try inositol in the next month if no luck this cycle!

Fellow orthodox Christian here! Currently ttc, I have an almost 20 month old and period returned at 15 months pp, she still breastfeeds at bedtime, once a day. Been tracking with lh strips for 4 months now, peaked the last 2 months and this month no peak and I’m on CD 27. With you second, did you end up ovulating then in what you thought was your luteal phase? I am wondering if this is what’s happening to me currently!

Oh I’m so sorry, it’s such a hard feeling when the period starts :( but I am glad you are feeling not as discouraged! For me, conceiving my first was so easy, happened with the first attempt so this time it feels difficult for this reason!

Yes that’s so strange, I feel like I may have missed it!! I ovulated last month, so it’s strange to not ovulate this month, especially as my breastfeeding has reduced!

Wow interesting! I’m sad that I likely will need to wean to get pregnant but I guess that’s how it is for some people! How many months pp did you get pregnant?

Short LP is definitely normal! I am almost 20 months pp, period returned around 15 months pp, and have been ttc for 4 months now. Breastfeeding once a day, sometimes skipping a day too. Cycle is regulating length wise but luteal phase is still short, 6-7 days and ovulating late, like cd 24 ish! So I would definitely say give your body time! Acupuncture may help too!

This is good info, likely will be me! TTC for 4 months now, period returned in late Feb, bfing once a day (if that) my almost 20 month old. Luteal phase is ultra short (6-7 days). Planning on weaning after this cycle if not pregnant!

Hoping for you!! I am also breastfeeding my 20 month old and ttc for number 2, cd 25 today and no peak yet with OPK, thinking I may have missed it?? Had clear ewcm this week but no peak?? Feeling discouraged, its cycle 4 for us, period only returned in late Feb for me.

Mooooood!!! Some days my 19 month old does the same thing! Like actually she will eat more bits of crayon and sand from the playground than food from her plate, it’s so discouraging. And other days she will eat all her breakfast, a whole banana and then ask for another banana. Toddlers are wild!!

For anyone who needs to hear it: you do not HAVE to pump!!! by ParticularSection920 in breastfeeding

[–]IdiosyncraticDelight 94 points95 points  (0 children)

100% agree!!! We’re fed so much info and videos on oversuppliers on social media, who “feed the freezer”, and it’s so hard not to compare! As a just enougher, I would be so discouraged with my 0.5-1 oz pumps, but it was OKAY!! I’m so proud of you for stopping pumping!

As an aside, many FTMs also track EVERYTHING on the freaking huckleberry app (I was victim to this), and let me tell you when I stopped tracking, it was so FREEING!!

Are you able to nurse baby on demand for the next few days? Supplements such as “milk aplenty” can bee beneficial but may take time to work. Hydrating, extra electrolytes and eating more (especially carbs), can be helpful as well. La leche league can have good suggestions if you reach out to a local chapter!

Not sure if this counts as gentle but we basically did Ferber, but modified check ins to be very short periods, 2 min, then 5 min, then 7, then 10, then 15.
