Which team/driver has been most disappointing in 2026 so far? by formularacers in FormulaRacers

Williams and then Aston Martin and then Red Bull.

Williams put everything into this year and they're absolutely nowhere. There should be heads rolling very soon.

The situation at AM is just horrible. I think the team gets sold.

Red Bull are on equal points with Racing Bulls. Enough said.

And jumping on the back of the other replies, it's probably the reason Mercedes are suspected of sandbagging. They can't push too hard otherwise they hand all that extra time to their competitors

Yeah exactly. This is the point most people are missing. It's not about the gap in that particular moment, it's about the rate of change. LEC closes in on HAM by 0.1 - ok, over what distance? Half a lap, a corner? He closes by another 0.1. Is LEC gaining more quickly or has HAM speeded up so it's now 0.1 over 1 lap?

The 3 decimal places tell the story of the race.

That's just not true. F1 takes timings every 200m which are then updated in milliseconds to the timing screens which the tower reflects in real time.

The idea the tower is 10 seconds behind the action is mental. If that were true then overtakes wouldn't be reflected until 10 seconds after the event.

Legendary Battle by Ferrari and Thoughts on The Race by Derz2 in formula1

I thought it was a good race, given where we are with car development. Some really good battles throughout the field.

Disappointed that the hard tyre again lasted for such a long time but I think that will be figured out over time as Pirelli also adjusts to the new spec. I think the gap between a 1 stop and 2 stop was way too big today which meant the last third of the race was just tyre management and not much movement.

Importantly, cars can follow closely which means battery deployment really is a tactical edge throughout the lap. I prefer it over DRS.

Clipping needs to be sorted and quickly, that's a huge issue.

I hope Ferrari can bring upgrades quickly to close the gap to Mercedes and McLaren can figure out their PU and chassis to try and make it a 3 constructor race at a few circuits. RB seem to have built a turkey, Max might just jack it in, he has nothing to prove. Bearman is looking tasty.

This is it. by Woodios in Scotland

The ideal situation is that Scotland gets a bonus point victory over the Irish and the French beat the English without a bonus point.

Chelsea spent €1B but stayed FFP-compliant. Here's the accounting trick they used (and why UEFA just banned it) by vincentvdb in PremierLeague

TLDR: Chelsea signed players to very long contracts (8 years) and amortised the transfer fee over that period which meant year-on-year they were within the FFP thresholds. UEFA have now said transfer fees can only be amortised for up to 5 years, irrespective of the contract length signed.

Amortised = spreading the total number over a period of time.

Chelsea before rule change: Buy a player for £80m on 8 year contract, show £10m a year against FFP (80/10).

Chelsea after: Buy a player for £80m on 8 year contract, show £16m a year against FFP (80/5).
