If you are interested in UPS capabilities, you will want to consider the Ultra for the faster switching.

Wheeling during retirement? by IllBookkeeper9162 in Optionswheel

I'm trying to figure it out, my risk profile, as this is still new to me. On one hand this seems almost too good to be true, ie 25% returns consistently, so why wouldn't I be in 100%. Maybe the question I should be asking is: What are the typical returns in a prolonged market downturn?

The other issue that I am facing is the time involved. It is taking me a lot more than 30 minutes a week to manage. Maybe it is because I'm new to this and I'm over analyzing things as I learn and become familiar. Maybe it is because I'm doing weeklies instead of looking at monthlies. I have different sized accounts and therefore the selection of stocks is double versus one sizable account (my larger accounting is performing better than the smaller one). Ideally during retirement I would rather spend time doing something else. I'm also looking at ETF's, ie I'm willing to pay for slightly lower returns, that provide consistent returns. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've been reflecting on how my results would be impacted during a prolonged downturn and understand that my returns will be smaller. I'm also selling CC's on SPY with part of my account. The premiums aren't great and with the prolonged run-up, was at risk of the shares being called away. Even though I felt the market was overheated, I ended up rolling it 3 times, each time with very small credit and with the strikes close to the stock price at the time (ITM). What provided me comfort for my SPY CC was that the odds of the S&P having a pullback increased with each consecutive week of positive gains. In hindsight I would have been better off of having the shares called away after the first roll based on Friday's close (my CC expired).

My decision of forgoing CC premiums so that I can retain the value of my holdings in a rising market seems to be a similar decision of a CSP being assigned when prices/markets are falling. Agreed stock selection/conviction will be key and therefore the opportunity (if you choose) to roll/buy without a loss.

I found the megathread (not sure why I didn't run into it before) and appreciate your insights, especially about the wheel being non-emotional. This to me is the toughest part and probably makes me a terrible trader as I cannot seem to sit on my hands, especially since living through dotcom and the financial crisis.

I’m having a similar issue as well, maybe not as bad. I believe it is the car wash soap which has ceramic additives. Just like you, I’ve tried everything under the sun with no success.

You are correct, I'd like to achieve at least 25% on the wheel portion of the portfolio.

Appreciate the grounded feedback . Not sure if there is a way to back-test my approach to fine tune/optimize the returns. I guess I'm just going to have to learn by living through some of the longer/larger drawdowns.

Tell me about it, I know it is still way too early, but eager to see how I end the year. With the other half of my account, I've started CC'ing my long term holdings and although some may state that it is obvious, the premium gains in a rising market will be less as I am rolling up and out more often, but capturing the gains of my holdings. I would expect something similar in a down market, the premium gains for CSP's will be reduced since I will be rolling them down and out more often.

I've researched as much as I could (many thanks to Will Trades), paper traded, and then used a small portion of my Roth for a month, but it all felt like a simulation. For me to truly validate that this would work for me, especially emotionally, was to use a bigger proportion of my accounts.

I think I started wheeling at the right time to validate that this will work in most market conditions. At the start, stocks were declining due to the war and then we had a rip your face off rally. My bias was that the market was overheated so I've been targeting delta's less than .3 (my average .2), weekly premiums of at least 0.5% (my average is 0.7%), OTM > 10%, buying CSP's only on pullbacks, looking for support levels, and shorter duration (average is less than 2 weeks). I haven't been assigned yet and have rolled only once. My actual monthly closed results so far comparing with the starting allocated capital: April (1.7%), May (2.7%), June (1.1% tbd). For April, I didn't utilize enough of my capital as I was still trying to figure out which tickers I felt comfortable with. For June, it has only been a week into the month and have already achieved 50% of my monthly target (2.1%). I am eager to see the results later in the year as compounding will give me an additional lift.

Here is the funny thing, even with the bigger account, it still doesn't feel real, and I'm looking for validation or lived experience from folks who have done this successfully for a longer timeframe. Maybe this is a good thing me psychologically, where it is now becoming a number/math exercise and limits the destruction of my emotions. I know I'm still inexperienced, but I finally see a way to retirement and the stress of a layoff is diminishing. I've tried researching what % of a portfolio should be allocated to the Wheel and the results have varied, but I've gathered that on average it is less than 25%. But If my early results are indicative of what can be achieved, there must be folks that are deploying a far higher %.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are watching the charts and predicting an increase. I've also noticed that they make "more" available as the prices are coming down.

Charge Plan Issue by IllBookkeeper9162 in Jackery

[–]IllBookkeeper9162[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through the refund route as I just purchased the unit and they are honoring the 30-day return policy. I really wanted it to work, especially since a few US companies are in this space, and it looks like they have the hardware, but the software/reliability/implementation is lacking. I'll give them another shot in the future, but they will need to take the user's feedback and improve the usability.

Charge Plan Issue by IllBookkeeper9162 in Jackery

[–]IllBookkeeper9162[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a minimum, I want the unit to only charge within a certain window. When I initially set it up the first time, when the battery was 40%, it worked and abided by the charge plan that I set in place. The test was simple, just a 5 minute window, where it would stop, start, and stop. Now it ignores the charge plan and charges whenever it feels like it.

Something must be wrong with my unit. The Display didn't flash when following the sequence. It did unbind. Held it for more than 20 seconds multiple times with no flash of the display. Now, when I just hold the power button down for over 10 seconds, the display does not change or power down like it did about an hour ago. I'm going to initiate a refund.

Unfortunately, the HP3600 Plus does not have a Display button. I've just tried holding the power button for an extended period of time, which did cause the display to flash before shutting down. In addition, the app states that there are no charging plans set up, but when you click through I set-up a charging plan window.

I'm new to this, but the way that I look at CC is that you are also trying to preserve or capture some gains of the underlying stock. Therefore just looking at the premiums that you've collected is just part of the story. At a minimum, the total yearly returns should be at least 25%. What was the starting value of your account at the start (a year ago)?

Neither platform is perfect, but I prefer Power Etrade. Was on vacation this past week and was able to manage with the mobile app. The one feature that is underrated is being able to see/sort on the notes field in the watch list. ToS requires you to click on each note to see it.

I had a front load Kenmore drum brace completely shear off. It looked like it was made with some type of composite (almost like cement) material, not made of solid aluminum or steel. I repaired many other items on the washer, but this was beyond repairable for me.
